We are at the beginning of another week in January. Even though it might seem at first glance that not much is happening in the IT world, believe me, the opposite is true. Even today, we have prepared a daily IT summary for you, in which we look together at what happened during today. In today's roundup, we'll look together at the postponement of WhatsApp's new terms, then we'll talk more about Huawei being banned from using US suppliers, and finally we'll talk about the value of Bitcoin, which is changing day by day like a roller coaster.

WhatsApp's new terms have been delayed

If you use a communication app to communicate with friends and family, it is most likely WhatsApp. It is used by more than 2 billion users worldwide. But few people know that WhatsApp also belongs under the wings of Facebook. A few days ago, he came up with new conditions and rules on WhatsApp, which users quite understandably did not like. These conditions stated that WhatsApp could directly share information about its users with Facebook. This is of course completely normal, but according to the terms and conditions, Facebook should also have access to conversations, primarily for the purpose of targeting advertising. This information literally swept the Internet and forced millions of users to move to alternative applications. However, don't rejoice just yet - the effectiveness of the new rules, which were originally supposed to take place on February 8, has only been postponed by Facebook to May 15. So there was definitely no cancellation.

If you are or have been a WhatsApp user and are currently looking for a secure alternative, we can recommend the application Signal. Most of the WhatsApp users switched to this application. In just one week, Signal recorded nearly eight million downloads, an increase of more than four thousand percent from the previous week. Signal is currently one of the most downloaded apps in both the App Store and Google Play. In addition to Signal, users can use Telegram, for example, or the paid application Threema, which is also very popular. Have you also decided to move from WhatsApp to another communication channel? If so, let us know in the comments which one you chose.

Huawei was banned from using US suppliers

There is probably no need to introduce in any significant way the problems that Huawei has been dealing with for several long months. A few years ago, it seemed that Huawei was poised to become the number one phone seller in the world. But there was a steep fall. According to the US government, Huawei used its phones for various purposes of espionage, and in addition to this, there was supposed to be unfair treatment of various user data. The United States of America decided that Huawei is a threat not only to Americans, and so there were all kinds of bans. So you can't buy a Huawei phone in the US or even connect it to the US network. In addition, Google has cut off Huawei phones' access to its services, so it is not even possible to use the Play Store, etc. In short and simply, Huawei does not have it easy at all - even so, at least in its homeland it is trying.

However, to make matters worse, Huawei struck another blow. In fact, Trump came up with another restriction in so-called five minutes to twelve, still during his administration. Reuters reported on this news only yesterday. Specifically, due to the aforementioned restriction, Huawei will not be allowed to use American suppliers of various hardware components - for example, Intel and several others. In addition to Huawei, these companies will not be able to cooperate with all Chinese in general.
