The new Intel Haswell processor allowed Apple to do great things with the MacBook Air. Until now, users have been used to partial changes in the specifications of newly introduced computers from the Cupertino company, but now we are witnessing a real breakthrough and a major improvement.
We can see the most significant advance in battery life, which is mainly due to the aforementioned Haswell processor, which is much more economical than its predecessors. The new MacBook Air lasts almost twice as long on battery as compared to its predecessor. Behind these positive changes is also the use of a more powerful 7150mAh battery instead of the earlier 6700mAh version. With the arrival of the new OS X Mavericks, which also takes care of energy saving at the software level, we can also expect another significant increase in endurance. According to the official specifications, the battery life of the 11-inch Air increased from 5 to 9 hours, and the 13-inch model from 7 to 12 hours.
Of course, official numbers may not be 13% telling, and various news servers revolving around technology have therefore started testing in real operation. A test by editors from Engadget measured the battery life of the new 13″ Air at almost 6,5 hours, which is a really noticeable step forward compared to the 7 hour result of the previous model. The Laptop Mag server measured ten hours in its test. Forbes wasn't nearly as generous, publishing values ranging between 9 and XNUMX hours.
Another big leap forward in the field of equipment of the new Airs is their installation with a PCIe SSD disk. It allows you to reach a speed of 800MB per second, which is by far the highest disk speed that can be observed on a Mac and a speed that is truly unprecedented among other laptops. This is more than a 50% increase in performance compared to last year's models. The new drive also improved the computer's startup time, which according to Engadget went from 18 seconds to 12. Laptop Mag even talks about just 10 seconds.
We also cannot leave the new and promising looking graphics processors CPU and GPU without attention. The very positive news at the end is the fact that the prices did not rise, they even fell slightly for some models.
Yes, but I haven't been able to load Windows there yet:) Furthermore, the quality probably also goes down, already after unpacking there was a knock and the display is not centered.
In this case I will recommend a complaint, these problems occur from time to time.
Installing Widle in a Mac still seems to me like buying a Mercedes and equipping it with Tesla electronics.
So the complaint is pointless, it's enough for Windows :)
You literally "killed" this with that Mercedes. :D Otherwise, as mentioned, a manufacturing defect may appear here as well, from which there is a period for returning/replacing goods. And with the Windows 8 ones, I know that at least Windows 7 doesn't support them, so it might be the same for Windows 8.
I agree with Widle, but I don't see anything with Tesla :o) I recently read about quite interesting things that Tesla is doing with cars, for example, go check it out ;o)
You don't know at all. Find out about Tesla, because Mercedes is getting the short end of the stick in this duel! :D
The great Windows 8 OS that crashed on my two new work computers after 3 months of a clean, legal install doesn't seem to support the PCIe interface of flash modules yet.
The actual duration will be a maximum of 7 hours. Also, Apple has lowered the processor clock, so I'm curious about the performance. However, kudos to Intel for finally focusing on consumption as well.
I doubt 7 hours, when my Air 7 has a real endurance of 2012 hours, without wifi I already had 8,5 hours
This is nonsense that shows that you have no experience with Apple products. (well, except for the iPhone). The values given by Apple apply. And according to the latest tests, it can last even longer than stated. Just like the Macbook Air 2012, I have this version and it lasts for 7-8 hours on Wifi.
You have no idea when the new macbook pro might be released? (stupid question, but I don't want to buy a mbp with the fact that new ones will be sent out in two months)
Watch: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/. Buying a MacBook Pro right now is not an ideal idea.
Thanks a lot, this is what I needed :)
administration? Really?
It is also worth mentioning that although they have reduced the clock speed of the processor, the performance is a few points better than the 2012 generation
My Macbook air arrived on Friday. I had no previous experience with Mac OS X, but I got used to it quickly. And the durability discussed here: during normal work (Wifi on, brightness at half, Pages, Safari, songs on) it lasts me around 9-10 hours. BOW! And I don't have to worry about performance, it's enough for everything I need, even vector graphics in Sketch.
I've had a Macbook AIR 13″ Mid 2013 since Wednesday :) I haven't put it through a lot of tests yet, but it lasts 12 hours without any problems and sometimes it shows 16 hours in bed with low brightness :) Performance is the same as 2012 and the disk speed is the same (I use FileVault) = great satisfaction :) I downloaded OSX 10.9 but the custom VPN routing scripts didn't work so I went back to 10.8.4 I'll wait for some new build to come out.
