The new iPhones have been among users for a few days now, so more and more tests are appearing on foreign servers, which test various more specific functions and scenarios in addition to regular reviews. One such test was conducted by an American website Tom's Guide, who figured out that when browsing the Internet, the news has worse endurance than last year's top model - despite Apple's marketing claims.

As part of the battery life test, it turned out that both innovations are short compared to last year's model. The test methodology includes a permanently running Safari browser on which several websites are loaded. The phone is connected to 4G networks and the display brightness is set to 150 nits. In the case of new iPhones, the TrueTone function is turned off, as is the automatic brightness adjustment.

The iPhone XS Max managed 10 hours and 38 minutes in this scenario, while the smaller iPhone XS lasted 9 hours and 41 minutes. The difference between the two models is therefore less than an hour. This would roughly correspond to what Apple claims about the durability of the new products, at least in a direct comparison between the XS and XS Max models. The problem is that last year's iPhone X did better in the test. Specifically, it was 11 minutes longer than the iPhone XS Max recorded this year.

In its official documents, Apple states that the new iPhone XS will last 12 hours while browsing the web, the same as last year's iPhone X. The XS model should last 13 hours in this mode of use. Neither of these claims could be verified. In the table above, you can see how the news fared compared to the current competition made up of a host of top models of the Android platform. However, the results of this test are somewhat contradictory. Some users confirm it, while others praise the battery life of the new models (especially the larger XS Max). So it's hard to say exactly where the truth lies.
