Steam is preparing to update its services, thanks to which it will be possible to stream games and video content from your PC/Mac directly to your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. In this way, it should be possible to play the latest gems, as well as watch videos on the displays of your mobile devices or television.
The Steam service is probably known to everyone who has at least a few times messed with some computer games. The company released a statement last week that it will expand the capabilities of its Steam Link application, which is used to stream content within the Internet network. Currently, it is possible to stream gameplay in this way, for example, from a desktop to a laptop, if both devices are connected. Starting next week, game streaming options will increase even more.
Starting May 21st, it should be possible to stream games to multiple devices, in this case iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV, using the Steam In-Home Streaming service. The only thing that will be needed for this will be a sufficiently powerful computer from which the game will be streamed, a strong Internet connection (via cable) or 5GHz WiFi. The application will now support both the classic Steam controller and some controllers from other manufacturers, as well as control via the touch screen.
In the later part of this year, the streaming of other multimedia content will be launched, which will arrive together with the new service (Steam Video App), within which Steam should offer movies, for example. However, the first part is significantly more important, as it will expand the gaming capabilities of the device in Apple's ecosystem. With a powerful computer, you will be able to play games on your Apple TV that you never dreamed of before. So I mainly hope that it will support the MFI controllers that everyone had to buy in order to be able to play anything at all... Because I really don't intend to buy Steam Controllers anymore...
This has long been possible with the help of moonlight applications, and MFI controllers do not support L3 and R3 as thumb stick presses, so it is not possible to run in action games, for example, which limits the games that you can enjoy to the fullest.
