Smart phones, watches or various household accessories are no longer smart. Recently, the label "smart" has also appeared more and more often in the clothing industry, where, however, the development of smart pieces is only at the beginning and manufacturers are therefore trying to find out what customers would really be interested in. Of course, the birth of smart clothing cannot be missed by Nike, which yesterday introduced a new model of Adapt BB sports shoes that can be controlled and even laced through an iPhone application.

Adapt BB may remind many of you of the now cult sci-fi movie Back to the Future, where in the second part, the main character Marty McFly put on Nike shoes that automatically tied. The company actually introduced a self-lacing model a few years ago (the Nike Mag), but due to the high price and limited availability, it became a collector's item. However, the new Nike Adapt BB will be more affordable and their added value should be the ability to control them through a smartphone.

Thanks to the self-lacing system, the shoes will be able to be adjusted exactly according to your preferences, and according to Nike, they should fit perfectly on the foot. Adapt BBs are intended primarily for basketball players who can adjust the degree of tightening, for example, during substitutions. The laces can be controlled either using a pair of buttons on the left side of the shoes or through an application on the phone. The motor connected to the lacing system is powered by a 505 mAh battery that lasts 10 to 20 days and can also be charged wirelessly through a large Nike pad that supports the Qi standard.

The Adapt BB is a direct successor to the HyperAdapt 1.0 boots from 2016, which also featured self-lacing laces. However, the new model is more sophisticated and more affordable. In the United States they will be the Nike Adapt BB available from February 16 at a price of $350 (around 8 thousand crowns). Nike has not yet mentioned the expansion to other markets, but it can be assumed during the year.
