Netflix has confirmed that it is currently rolling out Spatial Audio support for its iPhone and iPad apps. With the help of directional sound filters, it will provide its viewers with a noticeably stronger experience of consuming content on the platform.

Magazine 9to5Mac the arrival of surround sound was confirmed by a Netflix spokesperson himself. The novelty will be available for devices with iOS 14 in combination with AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. The switch for managing surround sound can then be found in the Control Center. However, the company is rolling out the feature gradually, so if you don't see it in the app even after updating the title, you'll have to wait.

Surround sound in Apple Music

Spatial Audio was announced last year as part of iOS 14 as a feature that brings more immersive audio to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max users. It uses the recorded Dolby technology to simulate 360-degree sound with a spatial experience that "moves" as the user moves their head.

iOS 15 then takes Spatial Audio to the next level, as it adds the so-called Spatialize Stereo option, which simulates a Spatial Audio experience for content without Dolby Atmos. This allows AirPods Pro and AirPods Max users to listen to almost any song or video on a supported service.
