Are you an iPad owner and do you feel that the brightness of your tablet's display appears uneven in poorly lit environments or that you see spots on the display? Then you have a chance that Apple will replace your tablet with a new one for free.

The problems mentioned are relatively common symptoms of a phenomenon called "backlight bleeding", which often occurs in devices with an LCD display. The mentioned phenomenon is usually caused by insufficient or faulty sealing of the edges of the given device. Light from the backlight of the display "flows" into the layer of pixels above it through tiny cracks caused by insufficient sealing. This kind of light flow is not unusual for LCD displays and is quite characteristic for the given technology. But if it occurs to such an extent that it makes it difficult or unpleasant for the owner of the device to use it, it may be a reason to replace the device with a new piece.

Specific models of Apple devices may be affected by this particular problem – for example, there is an increased number of reports of this phenomenon among owners of the second-generation 12,9-inch iPad Pro. The easiest way to check the amount of light passing through is to turn on the tablet in a dark room, increase the brightness of the display to the maximum and open an image in dark gray or black color in full screen mode. You can check the amount of light passing through, for example, on this site.

If the amount of light passing through your device is very significant, you can try asking Apple to exchange it for a new piece. Of course, you will have the greatest success if your tablet is still under warranty, but there are also reports of trouble-free post-warranty iPad replacements. But no one can give you 100% certainty in advance, and Apple has not yet launched any official repair program aimed at this specific problem.
