References in movies are a rewarding subject, and most of us love them – coming across an allusion or reference to something familiar in a movie is almost like meeting an old friend. Apple products, allusions to them or references to Apple itself are not uncommon in movies, but their appearance in Pixar's pictures has a special charm.

In general, Pixar films do not skimp on various – mostly pop culture – references. We can often notice in them references to other images from Pixar productions, the search for which is a huge hobby for many fans. But links to Apple are no exception. Why Apple in particular is probably clear to everyone - it is Steve Jobs to whom Pixar can thank for its rocket start among highly successful companies. Steve Jobs bought Pixar in 1985 - after his departure from Apple - from Lucasfilm and was its largest shareholder until the sale of Pixar to Disney in 2006. Jobs returned to the Cupertino company in 1997, but nothing changed in his position at Pixar.

Příšerky s.r.o. – advertising in the magazine

In the movie Monsters Ltd., there is a scene in which Mike Wazowski is holding a magazine with a glowing advertisement for a computer on the back, accompanied by the slogan "Scare Different" - beyond all doubt this is a humorous reference to Apple's slogan "Think Different", combined with advertising campaign of 1997 (and also with Jobs' return to Apple).

Wall-E: EVE

The director of the Wall-E anime, Andrew Stanton, said in a 2008 interview with CNN Money that the EVE "robot" was deliberately designed to resemble an Apple product. According to CNN, Stanton contacted Steve Jobs himself by phone, who provided Stanton with a design guru in the person of Jony Ive. He consulted with the director all day about how the Eve prototype should look.

Coco: Macintosh in the Land of the Dead

In the film Coco we can see the good old Macintosh for a change: this is a scene where Mama Imelda tries to find out why she can't leave the Land of the Dead and visit her family - in the scene we can see a computer on the table, reminiscent of the idea of a Macintosh 128K.

Cars 2

In the film, spy car driver Finn McMissile explains that Holley Shiftwell's civilian job is designing iPhone apps. We leave aside the question of how feasible such a thing is, for obvious reasons. Another point of interest associated with the movie Cars 2 and the company Apple is that it was the last Pixar to be made during Jobs' lifetime.

Cars: Apple, race sponsor

The racer sponsored by Apple in the film is called the Mac iCar (the white car in the video). Additionally, it bears the race number 84, referring to the year Apple released its first Macintosh personal computer.
