Thanks to iOS 8, applications appear on iPhones that previously did not make such sense without the presence of widgets. An example is the NaVlak application, which until now users could only know from Android phones. Along with iOS 8, however, it also arrived on iPhones, so even Apple users have the option to have the current station boards with train departure times displayed in the Notification Center.

The NaVlak application serves a very simple purpose - it draws data from site The railway information board, usually hanging around the station halls, provides the user with information about the railway transport route, directly on his phone. These boards contain up-to-date information on train departures and arrivals. In addition to the time, NaVlak also displays the train type and number, direction of travel, platform and track number and any delays.

In the application as such, you can choose from less than 400 Czech railway stations (those from which SŽDC provides data) and you can star the ones you regularly visit. However, NaVlak also uses your location and thus automatically displays the nearest station. However, the strength of the application lies in the widget, which can be added to the Notification Center in the Today tab. All you have to do is download the Notification Center and NaVlak will load the current board from the station you are heading to within a few seconds (it uses both your current location and favorite locations). Even before arriving at the station, you can check the departure time, but above all, which track the train is leaving from. If you are in a hurry, this information can be very useful.

You can see the type and number of the train, the destination station, the departure time and the track from which the train departs directly in the widget. In the Notification Center, the information in the widget can be updated (either with the appropriate button, but the data is always updated when the Notification Center is reopened), so you will practically not visit the NaVlak application itself.

There have been mobile station boards for Android for a long time, in iOS the NaVlak app makes sense only now in iOS 8, precisely because of the widget mentioned above. Information from the application, where you set your favorite station when you start it for the first time, will subsequently be accessed exclusively from the Notification Center.

NaVlak is available in the App Store for iPhone completely free of charge.
