The iPhone X is the first iPhone ever to support a tap to activate the screen. Using this function, you can simply open the device and look at notifications, widgets, or switch to the Camera application. But sometimes it can happen that the Tap-to-Wake function becomes more harmful than beneficial - for example, when you accidentally touch the display. The display lights up unnecessarily, which can lead to more battery consumption. Whether you like this feature or not is of course entirely up to you. Anyway, in today's tutorial I will show you how to turn off this feature.

How to enable or disable Tap-to-Wake

  • Open it Settings
  • Go to the section here In general
  • Now unclick the line Disclosure and slide below
  • Below is the function Tap to wake up, which we turn off

Now, when you lock your device and touch the display with your finger, it will no longer light up.

After turning off the Tap to Wake function, the function remains activated Wake up by lifting. It works by activating the display when you raise your device to your eye level. Lift to Wake is available on every device newer than the iPhone 6S/SE. If you also want to turn it off, you can do so as follows:

  • Let's go to Settings
  • Here we click on the box Display and brightness
  • We turn off the function Wake up by lifting
