I'll admit that while I have no problem replacing my iPhone or Apple Watch every year, I'm kind of a tinkerer when it comes to Macs. Although the price of these machines in lower configurations and series is already at the level of premium iPhones, due to the relatively small amount of innovations it brings, in short, no inner Apple-singer self forces me to upgrade frequently. That's also why, until recently, I faithfully used a MacBook Air from 2016. Yes, the MacBook Air that had frames that were a good 1,5 cm wide and a display whose quality was equal to that of more expensive calculators. Nevertheless, the machine served me really reliably, and considering that practically all MacBooks released after it got butterfly keyboards, which almost everyone around me broke sooner or later, I kept thinking to myself that I'd rather go with old iron than on the iron, which I will put in for service every six months. However, when Apple introduced the 16” MacBook Pro with Magic Keyboard in the autumn of last year, I started flirting with the idea of switching to a new Mac after all.

I've been thinking about a bigger display on the MacBook for a relatively long time. However, the Airs did not get bigger and for me years ago the price stopped me, and more recently the above-mentioned keyboard. That's why I liked the idea of getting a 16" MacBook Pro more and more. However, what are we going to talk about - the price of 69 crowns for the basic model is simply high - all the more so when I knew from the very beginning that I would probably never use the Mac to its full potential. At the beginning of this year, however, Mobil Emergency launched a very interesting event called Switch to a new MacBook, in which it was possible to get a very decent financial bonus for the purchase of a new Mac and at the same time have the store buy back your old machine. The final icing on the cake is the gifts that MP will pack for you when you buy a new Mac and then buy back an old Mac. This event was, with a bit of exaggeration, the last nail in the coffin of my indecision. Thanks to her, I was able to buy my dream Mac at a relatively good price, both thanks to the bonus, but also thanks to the possibility to sell my older Mac, which I thought was absolutely great. After all, if I wanted to "shoot" it somewhere in the bazaar, I probably wouldn't avoid haggling over the price and, in the worst case, complaints about the possible non-functionality of certain things, which would appear a few days after the sale of the Mac to a new owner, thanks to approval laws. So last week I plucked up the courage and finally got down to switching to a new Mac.

Action usage

The principle of the whole event is very simple. In order to bring it to you as best as possible, I will try to break it down in the following lines (and weeks through the next two parts of this series) in as much detail as possible. So let's go straight to its "start". This consists in choosing a MacBook and ordering it at the Mobil Pohotovosti e-shop. In my case, it was specifically a 16" MacBook Pro "basically" - i.e. with a 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM and an Intel Core i7 processor. This machine is sold for 69 crowns as a standard, however, thanks to the buy-in bonus, which is added to the price of the old MacBook purchased, it will cost you much less. The purchase bonus for this machine is 990 crowns, which in my opinion is more than generous. For cheaper Macs, we are of course talking about a much lower amount, which is completely logical. I personally then added +- 10 crowns to these 000 crowns in advance, at which the MP website automatically priced me an old MacBook Air 10 with 000 GB storage. Already at this moment, I got a discount of around 12 crowns, thanks to which the Mac should cost me some 700 crowns. However, I intentionally include +-. I did not know the final price of the MacBook Air at the moment, as it had to be assessed by the technicians in the store. However, given that the Air was in really good condition, I somehow didn't expect to get a significantly lower amount, which was confirmed in the end.

In addition to the discount based on the purchase bonus and the purchase price of the old machine, you can also count on the fact that Mobil Emergency will send you a gift in the form of Apple accessories after the entire transition is completed. This again differs from model to model, and in the case of the 16” MacBook Pro, you can choose from Magic Mouse 2, Apple TV HD or Magic Keyboard. In other words, you will get back additional money that you can get from the accessories, for example by selling them at the bazaar. And that we are not talking about a small amount. After all, the price of the Apple TV is just under four thousand crowns, and the price of the keyboard just as much. The Magic Mouse then costs about 2 thousand crowns, which is also not a little. So, if a person decides to send these things on, he will receive the price of a MacBook at a very respectable 45 crowns, which is already really great. So, after these calculations, I stopped having any doubts about ordering and "went for it". Before long, I had a confirmation of its receipt in my e-mail, and in a few tens of minutes also information from the courier who was supposed to bring the machine to me the next day. We will talk about how the transfer, data transfer and sending of the old Mac to Mobile Emergency took place in the next part.
