In September of last year, Apple introduced the new Apple Watch Series 7, which surprised many Apple fans. Literally months before the actual unveiling, information was spreading in the apple-making community that the new generation of watches should bring a rather significant change in design. But that didn't happen in the final, and we had to settle for "only" a few novelties. But we certainly don't want to denigrate the Apple Watch Series 7 with this - it's still a great product with a great display, higher durability, fast charging and new functions.

At the same time, Apple Watch Series 7 received a slight discount compared to the previous generation. Leaving aside the better variants, including GPS+Cellular, their price starts at 10 CZK in the version with a 990 mm case, or you can buy a watch with a 41 mm case for 45 CZK. The Apple Watch Series 11 model from 790, on the other hand, started at CZK 6 (with a 2020 mm case) or at CZK 11 (with a 490 mm case). Of course, with the arrival of the Series 40, the price of the "sixes" has dropped a bit, so you can buy them even cheaper than the current series. Therefore, an interesting question arises, or is it worth paying extra for the Apple Watch Series 12, if they do not bring so much news?

Is the Apple Watch Series 7 worth it?

Of course, there is no right answer to this question, as it is a highly subjective matter. For someone, it may be important to have the latest Apple Watch "ticking" on their wrist, while for someone else, this may not matter at all. But let's try to evaluate the whole thing somewhat objectively. For example Mobile Emergency you can buy the Apple Watch Series 6 starting at CZK 8, for which you get a relatively good watch with a number of functions. In particular, it can deal with measuring your physical activities, monitoring health functions, led by heart rate measurement, monitoring its fluctuations and abnormalities, blood oxygen saturation, EKG, and there is also a fall detection function. In general, this is a relatively successful and popular model, which definitely has a lot to offer and will be a flawless companion for its users for a few more years.

Minimal differences

On the other hand, here we have the Apple Watch Series 7, which are available from the aforementioned 11 CZK. Compared to the previous generation, this model primarily delivers larger display. The latter boasts smaller bezels (1,7 mm, while the Series 6 is 3 mm) and, according to Apple, is even 70% brighter. We also mentioned the difference in charging above. Although both versions have the same battery, the current series has no problem with fast charging via a cable ending in a USB-C connector, thanks to which the watch can be charged enough in just eight minutes to last 8 hours of sleep monitoring. Overall, the Series 7 can be charged from 0 to 80% in 45 minutes, while the Series 6 takes about an hour and a half to fully charge. Both watches last for 18 hours.

We wouldn't find any changes even when looking at the chip and storage used. Both generations have a 32GB capacity, but we encounter an interesting difference in performance. Although the Apple Watch Series 7 has an S7 chip, while the Series 6 has an S6 chip, it is quite possible that they are practically one and the same model, which has just been slightly modified and renamed. Apple itself claims that this S7 chip is 20% faster than the one hidden in the Apple Watch SE, in which the S5 sleeps. From this point of view, you will not find any noticeable difference between the two generations.

New features

Let's focus on the differences in terms of features. Even in this case, the Apple Watch Series 7 is not doing extremely well, as it only brings a function for detecting a fall while riding a bike and automatic detection when pausing the exercise. Another difference is just in the dials. The Series 7 offers several unique watch faces that take advantage of their larger display. If we look at it as objectively as possible, we can see that the Apple Watch Series 6 is actually not far behind.

Which model to choose

As we mentioned a paragraph above, Apple Watch Series 6 they keep up with the current lineup and have virtually no flaws. For this reason, it can be quite advantageous for some to buy an older series, on which they can save a lot of money, without having to give up some essential features, such as when buying an SE model. On the other hand, if a larger display is a priority for you, or if you are a passionate cyclist, then the Apple Watch Series 7 seems like a clear choice. In short, there is no universal answer to the question of which model to choose, and it depends on the personal preferences of each apple grower.
