In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Performance tests of the upcoming iPhone 12 appeared on Geekbench

In recent years, the apple company has twice failed to keep information about upcoming products under wraps, so to speak. Currently, the entire Apple community is impatiently waiting for the introduction of the new generation of iPhones with the designation twelve, which we will probably see in the fall. Although we're still a few weeks away from the show, we already have a number of leaks and more details available. In addition, performance tests of the Apple A14 chip, which the iPhone 12 will be equipped with, appeared on the Internet this week.

Of course, the data is found on the popular Geekbench portal, according to which the chip should offer six cores and a clock speed of 3090 MHz. But how did this apple venture fare in the benchmark test itself? The A14 chip scored 1658 points in the single-core test and 4612 points in the multi-core test. When we compare these values with the iPhone 11 with the A13 chip, we can see an extreme increase in the field of performance. Last year's generation boasted 1330 points in the single-core test and "only" 3435 points in the multi-core test. It is also necessary to think about the fact that the benchmark test was run on the beta version of the iOS 14 operating system, which has not yet caught all the bugs, and therefore still reduces the performance by a few units of percent.

Apple is once again under antitrust scrutiny

According to the latest news, Apple is once again under the scrutiny of antitrust authorities. This time it concerns a problem on the territory of Italy, and the Californian giant is not quite alone in it, but together with Amazon. The two companies were supposed to hold down the prices of Apple products and Beats headphones, thereby preventing resale of the goods through other chains that could theoretically offer the products at a discount. L'Autorit Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM) will look into the allegation.

We learned about this news through a press release, according to which Apple and Amazon are violating Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. Unfortunately, the AGCM did not specify how long the investigation would take. All we know so far is that the investigation itself will begin this week. Apple has not yet commented on the whole situation.

Chinese Apple Watch users can look forward to a new badge

Twelve years ago, the Summer Olympic Games were held in Beijing, China, which the residents still remember today. From this moment, the date of August 8 was written into the history of the nation and China uses it to celebrate the so-called National Fitness Day. Of course, Apple itself also got involved in this, and together with its Apple Watch, it supports Apple users all over the world and pleasantly motivates them to exercise. For this reason, the Californian giant organizes special events on selected days, for which we can get an exclusive badge and stickers for iMessage or FaceTime.

Apple is therefore preparing to celebrate the aforementioned Chinese holiday with a new challenge. Chinese users will be able to get a badge and stickers, which you can see in the gallery attached above, for at least a thirty-minute exercise. This is the third year of this challenge from Apple. However, it is important to note that this is an exclusive option available only to Apple Watch users in China. The call is made available only to the local market.

See how we could control Apple Glasses

In recent months, the Internet has been filled with news about the upcoming AR/VR headset from Apple. In the current situation, it is no secret that the Californian giant is intensively working on the development of a revolutionary product that could be called  Glasses and would be smart glasses. Some earlier leaks predicted the arrival of a similar product as early as 2020. However, the latest reports speak of either 2021 or 2022. But one thing is certain – the glasses are in development and we definitely have something to look forward to. In addition, our foreign colleagues from the AppleInsider portal have recently discovered an interesting patent that reveals the possible control of the headset itself. So let's look at it together.

Although the upcoming Apple Glasses have been talked about for several years, it is still not clear how we could even control them. However, the mentioned newly discovered patent contains fascinating research that dates back to 2016 and reveals a lot of interesting information. First of all, there is talk of using glasses and an iPhone at the same time, when the phone would be used for clicking or confirmation. In this respect, however, we have to admit that this would be a relatively difficult solution that would not garner much glory. The document continues to discuss the control of augmented reality using a special glove or special finger sensors, which unfortunately is again not effective and is an inaccurate solution.

Fortunately, Apple continues to describe a rather elegant solution. It could achieve this with an infrared temperature sensor, which would allow it to detect the user's pressure on any real-world object. The device could easily detect the pressure itself, because it would register the difference in temperature. In short, it can be said that Apple Glasses could compare the temperatures on objects before and after the actual touch. Based on this data, they would subsequently be able to evaluate whether the user actually clicked on the field or not. Of course, this is just a concept and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. As is customary with technology giants, they issue patents literally like on a treadmill, and many of them never see the light of day. If you're interested in smart glasses and would like to see how Apple Glasses could theoretically work, we recommend the video attached above. It is a rather sophisticated concept displaying a number of functions and gadgets.

Apple has released the third developer beta versions of new operating systems

Less than an hour ago, the third beta versions of the operating systems iOS and iPadOS 14, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14 were released. As for the changes in these new versions of the operating systems, there are rather few of them. In this case, the Californian giant mainly tries to fine-tune the operating systems, and thus corrects various errors, bugs and unfinished business from previous versions. The third developer betas were released two weeks after the release of the second developer betas.
