Adam Kos Along with Windows 11, Microsoft launched a new version of the "physical" Office suite designed for all those who do not want to use a Microsoft 365 subscription. It is, of course, also available on the macOS platform. Office 2021 is the successor to the 2019 suite and brings many new functions and improvements. According to the pandemic trend, it focuses primarily on cooperation.
Co-authored papers and commentaries
Word, Excel and PowerPoint got the co-authoring function. You can work with your colleagues on one document in real time, while the change notification function is also integrated here. In the case of Excel and PowerPoint, comments are improved, so you will now have better control over their sending and resolution. As part of team cooperation in these two titles, you can also see who is actively logged into it.

It is known that Microsoft wants you to actually be online even with its offline version of the office suite. With the exception of collaboration on documents, which of course does not work in real time without an Internet connection, news and uploading documents to OneDrive are also possible. With this step, you will ensure that the changes made to the documents are automatically saved to the cloud, so you should not lose your work under any circumstances. This applies to the entire trio of applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Within the tables, not only new things related to cooperation have been added, but also the functions themselves. These include, for example, XLOOKUP used to search for content in a table or rows. Here you can search for the price of a car spare part by number, find an employee by ID, etc. Then there are other formulas (FILTER, SORT, SortBy, UNIQUE, SEQUENCE and RANDARRAY) that will speed up various calculations. These are so-called dynamic fields.

The LET function, in turn, assigns names to the results of calculations, allowing intermediate calculations, values, or defining names to be stored in a formula. The XMATCH function, on the other hand, searches for a specified item in a given array or range of cells and then returns its location to you. The Watch Window is also interesting, which makes it easier to check the calculation of formulas and results in large sheets.

Apart from the already mentioned collaboration, you won't find much in Word. These are just extended color palettes of the backgrounds, which should be more pleasing to your eyes and then improve reading of the content. In particular, this is meant to be smoother and have more voices to choose from. In PowerPoint, you can now use Repeat or Rewind animations for handwritten texts. There is also an exact determination of their playback time. The entire presentation can then be saved as an animated GIF file and shared, for example, on social networks.
The entire quartet of applications, i.e. together with Outlook, also underwent a minor visual update. Of course, there is also an increase in performance, speed and stability of individual titles. All applications also now support saving images, charts and other graphics in SVG format.
