Microsoft has released an official statement regarding Office products and the upcoming macOS High Sierra operating system. And the statement is not very positive. First of all, compatibility problems can be expected in the case of Office 2016. It is said that the Office 2011 version will not receive software support at all, so it is largely unknown how it will work at all in the new version of macOS.
The official statement regarding Office 2011 is as follows:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync have not been tested with the new version of macOS 10.13 High Sierra and will not receive official support for this operating system.
According to Microsoft, users can also expect problems with Office 2016. Version 15.34 will not be supported at all in the new macOS, and users will not even run it. Therefore, they recommend updating to version 15.35 and later, but even with them, problem-free compatibility is not guaranteed.
Not all features in Office may be available, and it is also possible that you may encounter stability issues that may result in unexpected program crashes. Office programs are not supported in the current beta testing phase. We recommend that you back up your data before attempting to open it in MS Office. If you encounter any problems with the 2016 version on macOS High Sierra, please contact us.
According to these statements, it seems that Microsoft did not bother to test MS Office on the beta version of macOS HS and they are hiding everything until the final release. So if you use Office, arm yourself with patience. At the end of the statement, Microsoft also states that all official support for Office 2011, including security updates, ends in a month.

If someone's daily bread is some kind of professional work in MSO, then it's probably stupid to run it on a Mac. Logically, the support is maximum in widli, and you can also buy or assemble luxury HW. The Mac domain is elsewhere.
In my opinion, it is stupid to buy separate HW for each SW. As PetrOdut writes, MS Office is even more interesting on macOS than on Windows. At least that's how it was until now.
In case of purchase through O365, you have both versions available (of course I mean the current version, the old 2011 is really in decline).
And how it turned out - there are minimal problems with Office on the MAC, we also made a very crazy document with a number of atypical elements and the fact that someone edited in Windows and someone on a Mac did not cause any problems.
Yes, the office is still more perfect on windows Outlook and Excel especially), but on MacOs it works - at least some applications - very well. And thanks to this, I can only do the office and managerial part of my work on MacOs. Microsoft knows this very well and that's why they are quite active in application development. I understand the lack of support for the old office 2011 on the new MacOs. But the fact that they haven't yet properly tested 2016 office on the new MacOs - I don't understand that :(
So I'm glad that iWorks suits me :-)
Office for Mac worked great, maybe even better than on Win, so we'll see... Microsoft's approach is tragic...
That's why I will have a new Mac with Windows. ? Office is simply much better for professional work with office documents, and Outlook is also a great app with functions that I lack in others. But it will never be the same on a non-native OS. When you look at Office functions, something is always missing for MacOS.
In addition to the fact that Office for Windows is incredibly difficult to control. There is no classic menu at all and the ribbon is incredibly unintuitive. Doing the same thing in Word for Windows always takes many more clicks than in Word for Mac.
