Quite possibly, you have now registered the so-called video game deal of the century, when specifically the giant Microsoft bought the game publisher Activison Blizzard for a record 68,7 billion dollars. Thanks to this deal, Microsoft will get brilliant game titles like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, Starcraft and many more under its wing. At the same time, a relatively fundamental problem is emerging for Sony.

As you probably know, Microsoft owns the Xbox gaming console - a direct competitor to Sony's Playstation. At the same time, this acquisition made the Windows publisher the third largest video game company in the world, right after Tencent and Sony. Almost immediately, certain concerns began to spread among Playstation players. Will some titles be available exclusively for Xbox, or what changes can players actually expect? It's already clear that Microsoft will strengthen its Game Pass and cloud gaming service quite strongly with the new titles, where it grants access to several great games for a monthly subscription. When gems such as Call of Duty are added alongside them, it may seem that the Xbox has simply won. To make matters worse, Call Of Duty: Black Ops III, for example, is the third best-selling game for the Playstation 4 console, Call Of Duty: WWII is the fifth.

Saving impulse for Sony

At first glance, it is clear that the mentioned acquisition represents a certain threat to the rival company Sony. At the moment, she will have to come up with something interesting, thanks to which she can keep her fans and, on top of that, drag them away from the competition. Unfortunately, such a thing is of course easy to say, but it is much worse in reality. However, an interesting theory has been circulating on the Internet for a long time, which could be a saving grace for Sony right now.

For years there has been talk of another possible acquisition, when Apple could specifically buy Sony. Although nothing like this has happened in the final in the past and no speculations have been confirmed so far, now might be the best opportunity for both sides. With this step, Apple would acquire one of the largest video game companies, which also operates in the world of film, mobile technology, television and the like. On the other hand, Sony would thus fall under the most valuable company in the world, thanks to which it would theoretically gain not only prestige, but also the necessary funds for the further advancement of its technologies.

But whether a similar step will happen is of course unclear. As already mentioned, similar speculations appeared several times in the past, but they were never fulfilled. Rather, we can look at it from a slightly different angle and think about whether the given step would be right or not. Would you welcome this acquisition or do you not like it?
