I already brought the most important of the "Let's talk iPhone" keynote at which the iPhone 4S was presented yesterday's report, but together with the innovative products, there were other little things that were practically not discussed during the presentation and are worth mentioning.

Micro USB adapter

When Apple relaunched its online store after the keynote, not only new iPhones and iPods appeared, but also new accessories. Customers can now purchase Micro USB adapter (not yet available in the Czech Apple Online Store), which will charge the iPhone 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. And reason? Apple is just following the order of the European Union, which decided last year that Micro USB will be the new standard for mobile phones.

All so that everyone can borrow anyone's charger and charge their phone with it, and also so that such a large number of different cables that fit only certain devices are no longer produced. The problem, however, is that the EU allows companies to continue to have their own chargers as long as they also offer Micro USB adapters. That is, the way Apple does it now.

It's in the UK Apple Online Store Apple iPhone Micro USB Adapter to buy for 8 pounds (about 230 crowns), it will be sold on October 14.

The iPhone 4S has Bluetooth 4.0

Although the iPhone 4S has a lot in common with its predecessor, in addition to performance and camera, it also differs significantly in Bluetooth. Unlike the iPhone 4, which has Bluetooth 2.1, the iPhone 4S already has version 4.0. In theory, the new Apple phone should be able to connect to the new MacBook Air (and other devices with BT 4.0) with very little power up to 50 meters.

Apple released GM versions of iOS 5 and OS X 10.7.2 to developers

For yesterday keynote we learned that iOS 5 will be released on October 12th. But developers can already test the Golden Master version (build 9A334) of the latest mobile operating system. Apple has already told them to submit apps optimized for iOS 5 for approval. The GM version is usually no different from the one Apple will eventually release to the general public.

At the same time, the GM version of OS X 10.7.2 was released. The new update should bring full support for iCloud to computers in addition to optimization adjustments and minor improvements. When OS X 10.7.2 will be ready for the public has not been announced, but it is possible that it will be on October 12th.

New AppleCare+ for iPhone

Apple has started providing a new AppleCare program for iPhones called AppleCare +. The program costs 99 dollars (about 1860 crowns) and thanks to it you will be able to have your iPhone repaired twice when it is accidentally damaged. However, you will pay an additional $49 (about 920 crowns) for each such repair. As part of AppleCare+, the following can be serviced:

  • your iPhone
  • battery (if its health at least 50% from original condition)
  • headphones and accessories included

Software technical support is also included in the program. For now, it is not clear how and whether AppleCare+ will work in the Czech Republic at all.
