Apple has informed store employees and authorized service providers that there is an acute shortage of displays for 27 and 2014 2015″ iMacs. If there are users in the foreseeable future who will require service, Apple will offer them two options, which are the following solve the current situation. Both are relatively advantageous for the customer.

If you have a Late 2014 or Mid 2015 27″ 5K iMac that is experiencing display issues, the service desk will have good news and bad news for you. The bad thing is that there are no replacement displays and they won't be until at least mid-December. The good news is that Apple intends to compensate affected users for the lack of spare parts. They thus have a choice of two options on how to proceed further.

They can either wait for the repair until the aforementioned December and beyond - and not pay a penny for it, or they can exchange their old iMac for the current one (in an equivalent configuration) with a discount worth $600. In this, Apple will provide a discount in exchange for an old model. In an internal message that got into the hands of a foreign server Macrumors it is written that iMacs replaced in this way will be stock from the so-called Customer Replacement Units. It can contain both new (unused) and officially refurbished machines.

Another parameter for obtaining the aforementioned benefits is that a damaged iMac must not be under warranty. Once the device is under warranty (or Apple Care), a standard repair will occur. Of course, it must be a sudden failure, in case of own/targeted damage to the device, the aforementioned service action will not be claimable. If you have a similar problem with your 2014 and 2015 iMac, please contact official support/service for more information.
