Simply snap the MagSafe battery to the back of the iPhone 12 (and later) to start charging. Thanks to its compact, intuitive design, it is perfectly suited for quick recharging on the go. Perfectly aligned magnets hold it on the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro, which also ensure safe and reliable wireless charging. But what else should you know about this Apple news?
Design
The MagSafe battery has a rounded and smooth rectangular shape. The only color option so far is white. The bottom surface contains magnets, thanks to which this accessory is precisely attached to supported iPhones. It is sized to take up the entire back of the iPhone 12 mini, while other phone models extend beyond it. It also includes an integrated Lightning connector, through which it can be charged.

The MagSafe battery charges the iPhone 12 5 W. This is because Apple limits the charging speed here due to concerns about heat accumulation and thus tries to extend the life of the battery. However, it should not be a problem in the case of a power bank and in the case of charging on the go. When the MagSafe Battery is attached to an iPhone and connected via a Lightning to USB-C cable connected to a 20W or higher charger, it is capable of charging the iPhone at 15W. As for charging the battery, you can easily do so with a 27W or more powerful charger such as comes with a MacBook, for example.

Capacity
Apple has not provided any details on what battery capacity user can expect from the battery. But it should contain an 11.13Wh battery with two cells, each providing 1450 mAh. It can thus be said that its capacity could be 2900 mAh. The battery of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro is 2815 mAh, so you could say that it can charge these phones at least once. But Qi-based wireless charging is not efficient and part of the battery capacity is lost, so it is not entirely clear if at least one of these models will actually be charged to 100%. In addition, charging also varies depending on temperature conditions.

“Reverse" charging
The MagSafe battery has reverse wireless charging. This means that if you charge your iPhone, it will also charge if it is attached to it. Apple says this charging method is useful when the iPhone is plugged into another device, such as CarPlay, or when connected to a Mac. The condition is that the iPhone's battery must have 80% of its capacity before it starts charging.

Charging status display
The power level of the MagSafe battery can be viewed in the Battery widget, which can be placed on the home screen or accessed through the Today view. MagSafe Battery Pack battery status is displayed next to iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and other connected accessories.
Compatibility
Currently, the MagSafe Battery will be fully compatible with the following iPhones:

Of course, it can be assumed that Apple will not simply abandon this technology and will provide it at least in the upcoming iPhone 13 and other models. Thanks to Qi technology, it will also be able to charge iPhone 11 and other devices, but of course it will no longer be able to attach to them using magnets. The important thing is that the device will need to have iOS 14.7 installed or newer that Apple has not yet officially released. Compatibility with other MagSafe accessories, such as covers, is a matter of course. If you're using a leather iPhone 12 case, Apple warns that it may show marks from the compression of the skin, which it says is normal. If you are using a MagSafe wallet, you will need to remove it before using the battery.

Price
