Apple is trying to get its latest Mac operating system into the hands of as many users as possible. That's why he has now announced that macOS Sierra will be automatically downloaded from the Mac App Store in the coming weeks to computers still running OS X El Capitan's predecessor.

applepro The Loop stated that the automatic download will start in cases where a specific computer meets the technical criteria for full functionality and has enough free disk space. In addition, the user must be enabled to automatically download available updates from the Mac App Store.

However, the automatic download of the new macOS Sierra operating system does not mean that it will also be automatically installed on you. Sierra will only download for you in the background, and if you want to proceed to install it, you will have to go through the traditional installation process, including several approval processes.

If for some reason you don't want macOS Sierra to be automatically downloaded to your Mac (you don't want to upgrade to the latest system or you have limited internet, for example), we recommend checking your Mac App Store settings. IN System Preferences > App Store the option must be unchecked New updates download in the background.

If you have already downloaded the update package with macOS Sierra in the background, you will find the installer in the folder Application. From there you can either initiate the entire installation or, on the contrary, delete the package, which is almost 5 GB.
