Of course, the new MacBook Air has not arrived, and we are still waiting for a change in this product line. It's really about time, given that the Air received its last hardware update last year, and it wasn't anything major - Apple stopped offering the 11″ model and increased the standard RAM capacity from 4 to 8 GB. However, since the beginning of this year, there have been reports that this should be the year when we will see some progress.

The novelty should come with a price tag that will basically be lower. In the past, there has been talk that the MacBook Air will replace the 12″ MacBook at the moment when the production costs of this model fall enough that Apple can afford to lower its price. This has not happened even after several years, and one cannot expect much to change. When Apple introduced the new MacBook Pros in the fall of 2016, the supposed replacement for the aging Air was supposed to be a basic 13″ variant with limited hardware and no Touch Bar. However, it starts at 40 today, and that is not an amount that would represent the affordable alternative that the Air model was for most of the time.

Patrik Siwek The recipe for the new available model is not complicated at all. Compared to the current one, it would only be enough to replace the display with something that corresponds to 2018, modernize the connectivity and possibly adjust the chassis to match the current design language. Of course, there is updated hardware inside, but there should be no problem with that. There are a lot of potential customers for the new Air, and I dare say that an updated available model would help Apple a lot in terms of MacBook sales and thus expanding the membership base. A modern and affordable MacBook is desperately missing from the company's offer.
I see absolutely no reason why this model should not be kept unchanged. It is still beautiful, as one of the few that offers connectors that do not require a reduction. The only thing that bothers me is lower configurability and a little display. For which I would not need a higher resolution, rather replace the TN with an IPS panel and it would be more than enough. I absolutely do not understand the constant clinging to something new. However, the MacBook Air has no competition (albeit with its shortcomings).

To say that the MacBook is a replacement for the Air is complete ignorance. I like the Air's connectors, Magsafe, battery life, performance. With a MacBook, one has one port and that is simply not enough. So for me, the new Air should get the same body and maybe a FullHD display. No nonsense like Touchbar or the haptic giant touchpad (which I still don't understand).
I don't need connectors or power, but I simply can't put up with the 12" size. If the "macbook" was not only 12", but also 14", I would buy it right away.
