The last Mac mini was introduced in mid-October 2014. This means that this week four years have passed since the last update of the cheapest computer from Apple's portfolio. So what awaits us in the future?

The latest version of the Mac mini continues to be sold on Apple's website. In the Czech Republic, the Mac mini starts at a price of 15 crowns, and it is a model with a dual-core 490GHz Intel Core i1,4 processor. The most expensive pre-configured variant for 5 crowns boasts a dual-core 30GHz Intel Core i990 processor. However, the Czech online Apple Store also offers the option of ordering a computer in a version with a dual-core 2,8 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 3,0 GB RAM and 7 TB SSD for a price of 16 crowns.

Users have been clamoring for a new Mac mini for a long time, and it's a real shame that Apple let it sit idle for so many years. But it looks like better times could finally begin to shine. The release of the new generation of Mac mini is expected this year by two very reliable sources: analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman from Blomberg. Kuo predicts a processor upgrade, Gurman's vision is a little more ambitious - he leans towards a variant of the professional version of the Mac mini with new storage options, which, according to him, will understandably be associated with a higher price. It is not yet clear whether the Mac mini will also receive a redesign, but we can look forward to a quad-core processor.

Although October is slowly coming to an end, some of us still haven't given up hope for a possible extraordinary October Keynote, where Apple could present not only the mentioned Mac mini, but also the new iPad Pro with Face ID and the new, cheaper MacBook. If the Keynote will actually take place, due to Tim Cook's schedule, October 30 is possible, that is, two days before the announcement of the financial results for the past quarter.
