Not so long ago, Jony Ive decided to leave his position as chief designer at Apple. He founded his own design studio called LoveFrom, whose first - and also main - client will be Apple. As part of starting his own business, Ive also registered his own trademark for the term LoveFrom Jony.

This is evidenced by documents from the patent office in the United States. The application was submitted on July 18 of this year, and May 19 of this year is given as the date of foreign registration. Ive originally announced that his new company would be called LoveFrom, but the trademark registration suggests that at least one segment of the production will be called LoveFrom Jony.

Ive's credit for the design of Apple products was, of course, widely known, but the products did not bear his name - the well-known Designed by Apple inscription was on them. The categories of products and services listed for the registered brand are rather meaningless and very general, but this is a fairly common phenomenon during registration.

When Ive officially announced his departure from Apple, the Cupertino company assured the public that it would be a major client of LoveFrom, adding that Ive would continue to be very involved in the design of its products over the next several years - regardless of the fact that he is not her employee.

"Apple will continue to benefit from Jony's talent by working closely with him on exclusive projects through the ongoing and passionate design team that [Ive] has built," said Tim Cook in the company's official press statement, where he also added that he is very pleased that the relationship between Apple and Ive continues to develop. "I look forward to working with Jony in the future," concluded. Another Apple designer, Marc Newson, will join Ive in his new company.
