The Czech Republic is probably finally becoming an attractive country for Apple. The next developer version of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.7 includes an optional Czech language in the standard build of the given operating system.

Jan Kout on the website MultiApple writes:

The recently released developer version of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.7 included Czech among the other languages of the standard build of the given operating system. Although not everything that should be translated (eg help), there is still a lot of time left before the release of the final version of Lion, so we can expect to see a full localization of Mac OS X 10.7! What do some programs look like and which have been honored?

It is certainly pleasing that, for example, not only programs that users use every day, but also those that are already intended for more professional intervention or operating system control, have been localized. So far, the vast majority of Mac OS X essentials have been honored. So far, Czech help is missing everywhere, some programs show a certain combination of Czech and English, some are not translated at all (e.g. Automator). From all this, it can be observed that the Czech localization team has a lot of work behind them, but also ahead of them, which concerns, for example, the mentioned help. Even now, however, the Czech localization team (for their work on Lviv) as well as Apple itself (for this step) deserve great praise. Thank you! Finally!

Interestingly, there has been a change in the names of some programs. We won't see each other again List of addresses, but with Directory (which seems more Czech to me).

The following programs received localization at random: Safari, Terminal, Keychain, Activity Monitor, System Information and others. iTunes is still found in an untranslated form.

Czech versions of the iLife and iWork software packages are supposed to appear this year. Apple's effort to localize the system and programs into our native language may have one more consequence. Possibility to buy music and movies with a Czech iTunes account.

Unfortunately, Slovak users are out of luck. The Slovak language did not appear in the menu of possible language versions of Mac OS X, but it is in iOS.

The MultiApple site contains extensive image gallery with system previews, take a look.
