After a short hiatus, on the website of Jablíčkára, we are once again bringing you another part of our column called People from Apple. Today's episode features Dan Riccio, Apple's vice president of hardware engineering.

Available sources are silent on the date and place of birth of Dana Ricci. However, we know about him that he has been working at Apple since 1998, when he started to hold the position of president of product design. Before joining the Cupertino company, Riccio worked as a senior manager at Compaq. Riccio graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. When Apple introduced its first tablet in 2010, Riccio was tapped to be vice president of hardware engineering for the iPad. In addition to the development of the tablet as such, he also oversaw the development and production of some accessories, such as the Smart Cover.

Two years later, Riccio joined Apple as senior vice president of hardware engineering, replacing Bob Mansfield, who had decided to retire. Some of you may also associate the name Dan Riccio with the iPad "bendgate" affair from 2018, when Riccio stated that the new iPads are actually completely fine, and that bending them has no negative effect on function. This wasn't the only time Riccio spoke to the media - it was Riccio who said on the occasion of the release of the iPhone X that the introduction was originally planned for 2018, but thanks to the diligence and passion of Apple employees, the release was timed on the anniversary of the introduction of the first iPhone.
