In today's article, we will once again briefly introduce you to another of Apple's personalities. This time it will be Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. What were his beginnings in the company like?

Craig Federighi was born on May 27, 1969 in Lafayette, California in a family with Italian roots. He graduated from Acalanes High School, then graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, and computer science. Federighi first met Steve Jobs at NeXT, where he was in charge of developing the Enterprise Objects framework. After the acquisition of NeXT, he moved to Apple, but after three years he left the company and joined Ariba - he did not return to Apple until 2009.

Upon his return, Federighi was tasked with working on the Mac OS X operating system. In 2011, he replaced Bertrand Serlet as vice president of Mac software engineering, and was promoted to senior vice president a year later. After Scott Forstall left Apple, Federighi's scope expanded to include the iOS operating system. Already after his return to the company, Craig Federighi began to appear at Apple conferences. It made its debut at WWDC in 2009, when it participated in the presentation of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system. A year later, he made a public appearance at the introduction of Mac OS X Lion, at WWDC 2013 he spoke on stage about the operating systems iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, at WWDC 2014 he presented the operating systems iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. At WWDC 2015, Federighi owned the stage for most of the time. Federighi then presented the operating systems iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan and also spoke about the then new Swift programming language. Some of you may also remember Federighi's appearance at the September 2017 Keynote where Face ID initially failed during the presentation. At WWDC 2020, Federighi was tasked with presenting Apple's achievements, he also spoke about the operating systems iOS 14, iPadOS 14 with macOS 11 Big Sur. He also appeared at the 2020 November Keynote.

Craig Federighi is often nicknamed "Hair Force One" because of his mane, Tim Cook reportedly calls him "Superman".
