In The Long Dark, you find yourself in the trembling skin of a person with a lot of bad luck. The main character was shipwrecked in the northern Canadian wilderness. Without proper supplies, you will have to use the nature around you as efficiently as possible. Instead of passively waiting for rescue, you first start your first fire and head out to hunt for something to eat. However, over time, the classic survival genre manages to turn into a more interesting position in the story. After satisfying his basic needs, the protagonist begins to look for survivors of the plane crash, namely his colleague Astrid.
The game thus changes in some parts from a classic survival mode to a diluted RPG. However, the downside of this story mode is that the developers still haven't been able to finish it. The game has been well cared for over the years since its release, but only four of the promised five story episodes are still out. If, of course, you don't want to experience the story of searching for your colleague, The Long Dark can still entertain you for dozens of hours in its survival modes.
