Last week we wrote about the fact that the now legendary lawsuit between Apple and Samsung is returning to court for the last time. After many years of legal battles, several reviews and other related trials regarding the adequacy of the compensation assessed, it is finally clear. A verdict was handed down this morning, which puts an end to the whole dispute, ending it after seven years. And Apple emerges victorious from it.

The current trial was basically just about how much compensation Samsung would end up paying. The fact that there was a patent infringement and copying was already decided by the courts years ago, for the last few years Samsung has only been litigating how much it actually has to pay Apple and how the damage will be calculated. This last part of the whole case came to light today, and Samsung got off as badly as it could. In essence, the conclusions from the previous court proceedings, which Samsung challenged, were confirmed. The company thus has to pay Apple more than half a billion dollars.

The total amount Samsung has to pay Apple is $539 million. 533 million is compensation for infringement of design patents, the remaining five million is for infringement of technical patents. Apple representatives are satisfied with the conclusion of this makeover, in the case of Samsung, the mood is significantly worse. This decision can no longer be disputed and the whole process ends. According to Apple's representatives, it is good that the court confirmed the "obscene copying of the design" and Samsung is thus adequately punished.
