Even before today's launch of Apple Pay in the Czech Republic, there was speculation about five banks - Česká spořitelna, Moneta, AirBank, mBank and Komerční banka - supporting the service. The original assumptions were finally confirmed and the aforementioned banking institutions, together with the fintech startup Twisto and the Edenred service, actually started offering the service to their clients today. But unexpectedly and almost unnoticed, one more player joined them – J&T Bank.

J&T was not considered at all in the first wave of support for the service from Apple. Before the launch of Apple Pay on the market, the bank's press department refused to comment in any way on the speculations and had really strict rules in communicating information. Thus, J&T Bank complied with the information embargo from Apple perhaps the most strictly of all institutions. For example, to our question from last week, whether the bank intends to offer the service to its customers, we received the following response: "We will not comment on media speculation about the launch of Apple Pay. We offer Mastercard payment cards."

That J&T clients can also pay with an iPhone and Apple Watch was essentially announced by Apple itself, which listed it as one of the partner institutions on official website. However, even the bank about the news this morning she informed on its website, where it describes how to set up and use Apple Pay. J&T only offers its clients Mastercard cards, which are, however, fully compatible with the service.
