When Apple introduced the Apple Silicon project at WWDC 2020, it immediately gained a lot of attention. Specifically, this is a transition related to Macs, where instead of processors from Intel, chips from the apple company's workshop will be used directly. The first of them, the M1 chip, even showed us that the giant from Cupertino is really serious. This innovation pushed the performance forward to an incredible extent. During the very presentation of the project, it was also mentioned that Apple owns its own chips completely will pass in two years. But is it actually realistic?

It's been more than a year since Apple Silicon was unveiled. Although we have 4 computers with an Apple Silicon chip at our disposal, for now one single chip takes care of them all. Anyway, according to a number of reliable sources, the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro are just around the corner, which should boast a new M1X and a drastic increase in performance. This model was originally supposed to be on the market by now. However, the expected Mac is likely to come with an advanced mini-LED display, which is precisely why it has been delayed so far. Even so, Apple still has relatively enough time, as its two-year period "ends" only in November 2022.

According to the latest news from respected journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple will be able to reveal the last Macs with newer Apple Silicon chips by the given deadline. The entire series should specifically be closed by the improved MacBook Air and Mac Pro. It is the Mac Pro that raises a lot of questions, as it is a professional computer, the price tag of which can now climb up to over one million crowns. Regardless of the dates, Apple is currently working on significantly more powerful chips that will just come into these more professional machines. The M1 chip, on the other hand, is more than adequate for the current offering. We can find it in the so-called grade models, which are aimed at newcomers/undemanding users who need enough performance for office work or video conferences.

Probably in October, Apple will introduce the aforementioned 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro. It boasts a mini-LED display, a newer, more angular design, a significantly more powerful M1X chip (some are talking about naming it M2), the return of ports such as the SD card reader, HDMI and MagSafe for power, and the removed Touch Bar, which will be replaced by function keys. As for the Mac Pro, it could be a bit more interesting. It is said that the computer will be about half the size, thanks to the switch to Apple Silicon. Such powerful processors from Intel are understandably also energy-intensive and require sophisticated cooling. There were even speculations about a 20-core or 40-core chip. Information from last week also talks about the arrival of a Mac Pro with an Intel Xeon W-3300 processor.
