A survey conducted by SellCell found that a total of 74% of its respondents hope that Apple will change the name of its future iPhone. It should be labeled iPhone 13, and if you're superstitious, you really don't want anything to do with this number. So is it time for Apple to change the naming of its iPhone portfolio? Quite possibly yes, regardless of the number. Of course, the survey was conducted in the USA, with more than three thousand users of iPhone and iPad devices aged 18 and over. It was carried out between June 10 and 15, 2021, and there are several other points of interest based on it. Although 52% of them said that they are not really excited about the news in iOS 15.

23% like the news in the Wallet app, 17% appreciate the better search, 14% are looking forward to the news in the Find app. But 32% of users would rather see interactive widgets and 21% always-on display. The biggest pain point of iPadOS 15 is the absence of professional applications, which is stated by almost 15% of respondents. Thus, Apple did not hit the users' taste very well. But the participants also voted on the form of future iPhone names, when 38% of them said that they would most appreciate only the designation of the year. Instead of iPhone 13, this year's models would be labeled iPhone (2021) or iPhone Pro (2021). However, from a historical point of view, it wouldn't be a bad thing. And after all, this designation could also be reflected in the marking of operating systems.

See what the iPhone 13 could look like:

Number 13

The number 13 is considered unlucky in many countries, bringing bad luck. The morbid fear of the number thirteen is called triskaidekaphobia, and that's also why this number is often omitted from number lines, for example, some hotels don't have a 13th floor or athletes don't get such a starting number. And then, of course, there's also Friday the 13th. However, in Sikhism, 13 is considered a lucky number because in Punjabi you say tera, which also means "Your". The pre-Columbian cultures of Mesoamerica then considered the number XNUMX sacred. They distinguished, for example, the thirteen layers of the sky.

Unification of product labeling with the system

Although it is of course still just a number, such a detail can have an effect on the sales of the phone itself. And if you look at Apple's portfolio, it shouldn't be a problem for him to omit the number series and replace it with the year. He has been doing this for many years with his computers, so why not with other devices? In addition, this would include the unification of the line of operating systems. Now we have the iPhone 12 running iOS 14. In the fall we'll have the iPhone 13 launching with iOS 15, etc. Why can't there just be an iPhone (2021) running iOS (2021)? I don't mind thirteen, but I would definitely welcome this not only because it would be clearer, but also because it would be more logical. Where does Apple want to go with its number series?

In addition, the year would clearly refer to the age of the phone, which many have a problem with. People often ask what kind of iPhone I use, and when I tell them XS Max, they ask how old it actually is and how many models have been released after it. The year would thus clearly determine all the necessary information. It would prevent the introduction of meaningless designations in the form of "S" and others.
