TikTok has one major drawback – it is a Chinese app. China has one major disadvantage – it is led by the Chinese Communist Party. The Trump administration was fundamentally opposed to anything Chinese and tried to limit its "products" on the American market as much as possible. All in the name of safety. Huawei took it hard, but applications such as TikTok or WeChat were also dealt with.

What will happen with the functionality of TikTok in the US should have been decided by today, i.e. by June 11, 2021. However, the current US President Joe Biden canceled Trump's regulation. Well, not completely, because this topic will be addressed more, in more detail, more comprehensively.

Wall Street Journal published a statement from the White House: “The Department of Commerce will need to review applications involving software applications that are designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied by persons that are owned or controlled by a foreign opponent, including the People's Republic of China." Reason? Still the same thing: a disproportionate or unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States and the American people.

The move is not surprising since the Biden administration said in April that it would take a more holistic approach compared to the Trump administration regarding TikTok and WeChat. So the dreaded announcement of the end of these services did not come. So far, both of them will not have to worry about the possibility of their work in the USA.

I'll give you the solution for free, Mr. Biden

I am not obsessed with the issue, I am not a supporter of either the first or the second. I just don't understand the US versus China situation in contrast to what China is ordering the US or Apple to do. He must therefore have servers in China owned by a Chinese company, on which all the data of Chinese iCloud users are stored, and he must not leave there. TikTok is a huge service, so would it be such a problem for it to store data about US residents within the US and not have access to it, as Apple allegedly doesn't have in China?

Sure, it's certainly not that simple, there's certainly a lot but, there's certainly a lot of information that I haven't looked up or I can't see the connection between them. But one thing is for sure, TikTok is not the hit it was a year or two ago, now it has matured elsewhere and it's not just that if the young generation wants to be "in" they simply have to be on TikTok, ideally with an iPhone in hands of course.

TikTok third most popular among young people

SOCIETY Kaspersky she stated studii, from which it follows that TikTok, YouTube and WhatsApp were the most popular applications among children during the pandemic, with TikTok almost twice as popular as Instagram, which has been widely preferred until now. Specifically, the report states the following:

“The most popular application categories used by children during the pandemic included software, audio, video (44,38%), internet communication media (22,08%) and computer games (13,67%). YouTube was the most popular app by a huge margin – it's still the most popular video streaming service for kids around the world. In second place is the communication tool WhatsApp, and in third place is the popular social network TikTok. Four games also made it to the Top 10: Brawl Stars, Roblox, Among Us and Minecraft."

TikTok is no longer just a place to share clips, as more and more educational and creative content has started to appear on this platform. Added to this is the fact that if someone wants to create a video to be placed on TikTok, they have to handle a lot of tasks - being a cameraman, actor, director and generally anyone who is involved in the creation of films or videos. This not only develops skills that can be useful to children in their future life, but it can also lead them to decide to choose one of these roles as their profession. And wouldn't it be a shame to deny this to young Americans?
