The new Apple TV is attracting quite interesting responses. Will Jailbreak be done using the SHAtter exploit, or that Apple could try to attack game consoles through it as well.

Now on the server businessweek.com discovered an article that deals with the production cost of this magical box. The research was conducted by iSuppli.

Apple TV costs $99 in the US, but the cost is around $64, which is about a 35% profit. Of course, this is only about HW, the costs of development, marketing, patent settlement, etc. are not included in the cost price. The most expensive component is the A4 processor (equipped, for example, in the iPhone 4 or iPad), which costs $16,55, followed by 8GB of memory for $14.

The profit of 35% that Apple has on this box is smaller than from the sale of other iOS devices, where it has 50 or more percent, but it is higher than Apple had from the sale of previous versions of the Apple TV. There the profit was around 20%.
