Almost everyone can experience a lost or stolen iPhone. It is for this reason that Apple has implemented several great functions to help solve similar problems, with tracking the device or locking it so that no one gets into it at all. So, as soon as the apple owner loses his iPhone (or another Apple product), he can activate the lost mode on the iCloud website or in the Find application and thus completely lock his apple. Something like this is even possible when the device is turned off or without an Internet connection. As soon as it connects to the Internet, it is locked.

In addition, a rather strange situation appeared recently, when several dozen iPhones were "lost" after (mostly) American festivals, which later turned out to be stolen. Fortunately, these users had the Find service active and were therefore able to track or lock their devices. But the position that was shown to them the whole time was interesting. For some time, the phone was displayed as switched off at the festival site, but after some time it moved to China out of nowhere. And it's all the more strange that the exact same thing happened to a number of apple sellers - they lost their phone, which "rang" after a few days from one specific place in China.

Where do lost iPhones end up?

The find service for these stolen iPhones reported that the phones were located in the Chinese city of Shenzhen (Shenzhen) in the province of Guangdong (Guangdong). As dozens of users found themselves in the same situation, the situation started to be discussed very quickly on the discussion forums. Later, it also turned out that the mentioned city of Shenzhen is referred to by some as the Chinese Silicon Valley, where stolen iPhones are usually sent for a so-called jailbreak, or software modification of the device, in order to remove as many system limitations as possible. In this city, there is also the specific district of Huaqiangbei, which is known for its electronics market. Here, stolen products are most likely resold for a fraction of their price, or simply disassembled and sold for spare parts.

Some of the discussants even visited the market themselves and were able to confirm this fact. According to some, for example, in 2019, the first iPhone SE in perfect condition was sold here for just 40 British pounds, which translates to a little over 1100 crowns. Anyway, it doesn't end with jailbreaking and reselling either. Shenzhen is also known for another unique ability – it is a place where technicians can modify your iPhone into a form that you might not even have thought of. It is common to talk about, for example, the expansion of internal storage, the addition of a 3,5 mm jack connector and a number of other modifications. So, as soon as the apple lover loses his iPhone or other device and subsequently sees it in Shenzhen, China via Find it, he can immediately say goodbye to it.

Is iCloud Activation Lock a device saver?

Apple phones still have another fuse, which represents slowly the highest level of security. We are talking about the so-called iCloud activation lock. This will lock the device and prevent it from being used until the credentials for the last signed-in Apple ID are entered. Unfortunately, the iCloud activation lock is not 8% unbreakable in all cases. Because of the unfixable hardware bug called checkm5, which all iPhones from the XNUMXs to the X model suffer from, it is possible to simply install a jailbreak on Apple phones, which can then be used to bypass the activation lock and get into iOS, albeit with certain restrictions.
