“Ive is the most innovative and influential figure of our generation in the field of industrial design. No one else has done so much to change the way we visualize and share information," said v press release SFMOMA director Neal Benezra. "SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast to open a department of architecture and design, and we are thrilled to celebrate Ive's groundbreaking achievements."
The dinner ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2014, and Jony Ive himself will be speaking. Before him, architects Lawrence Halprin, filmmaker George Lucas and painter Wayne Thiebaud won the Bay Area Treasure Award.
"I am very grateful to the museum and I am proud to appear alongside such wonderful personalities who have received the award in the past," said Jony Ive, who has been changing the world of design from his workshop at Apple since 1992.
