Server & Hosting AppleInsider recently reported the presence of 53 new downloadable languages for VoiceOver in the Mac OS X Lion beta. VoiceOver is the system's voice response, which helps especially the visually impaired, where a synthetic voice reads all the texts on the screen for you. Czech and Slovak were also among the new languages, so speculation began to spread as to whether we would really see native Czech and Slovak localization in the new system.
We were able to meet the VoiceOver function with Czech and Slovak voices already in the iPhone, so it is not a hot new thing. The same menu of languages with a Czech voice is available here Susan and Slovak Laura. Apple de facto did that by taking voice synthesis from the iPhone (by the way, very successful, even in the Czech version) and transferring it to Mac OS. But what will happen with the Czech language?
The implementation of the Czech synthetic voice probably does not directly mean that the Czech localization should appear in Lion, which will be presented in the summer. However, unlike a colleague Janeček rules I'm not that skeptical. Take for example the last Apple Event, the introduction of the iPad 2. In contrast to the last iPhone, we reached the first 26 countries in the world where the iPad will be sold this month, i.e. the second wave of sales. This means that Apple products are selling better and better here in the heart of Europe, and Apple is taking notice.
We also didn't get iPhone localization right away when the 3G model was introduced, but we had to wait until mid-2009, when iOS 3.0 was released, which, by the way, was the same time we got Snow Leopard. So I would be rather optimistic that Czech and other European languages will come to Mac OS X, just as it was in the case of iPhone and iPad, and why not right away in version 10.7.
Although our purchasing power cannot match that of America, Great Britain or Germany, it is still not negligible and generates pleasant profits for Apple. Otherwise, I would not consider that new languages did not appear in the Lion beta installation. If they come, then more likely to GM or until the final version. All that remains is to wait until the summer. Hopefully, in the next quarter of a year, we will be able to jot down with pleasure "Oh, Zuzana..."
Hello,
how to get VoiceOver in Czech in iPhone 3GS and 4?
Czech is not offered to me as a language.
Thank you and have a nice weekend.
I take it back, I mistook it for "Voice Control"
Good day.
Well, speaking of Voice Control... I would be quite pleased with an article on the subject of Mac voice control. ;) After all, just how you look at that StarTrek... ;))
In that case, I will please you, we are really preparing something like this.
Sup! I look forward!;)
And can Zuzana be downloaded to Snow Leopard somewhere?
It doesn't work.
As it was already interpreted on 2/3/2011 on the blog Petition for the inclusion of Czech and other European languages, I think it is a significant hope that Czech will slowly begin to be integrated into the regular distribution of Mac OS X. Yes, the beta version does not yet contain anything else in Czech, however, there is still a lot of time for further development.
We can only hope and keep hearing that without full localization it won't work with the famous Apple service either. For me, one thing is clear - localization can also bring significantly better service. The current one is really anti-Apple and shameless, unacceptable and undignified towards local customers.
The price for the given products is the same even here, where the purchasing power is much lower than, for example, in Germany. But no one will provide the same service for her? Pretty unfair, right?
The Czech customer should finally start speaking up. Otherwise, this and other audacity will not change. Elsewhere: The customer controls the market, not the customer. When will the local customer start to behave accordingly?
It's a shame that there is no voice control for the iP4 in Czech. VoiceOver is not that important.
Well, Vocie control would sting. I find it quite humorous to change the pronunciation of Czech names into English:-)) have you tried it??:-))) I'm doing it there and no one hears me.
I use voice over when I'm driving and I don't want to read a message or email while driving. It's going pretty well.
It just bugs me when I turn it on by mistake. At first I thought I might have a bad virus. It's the frame that arrived. I totally thought I was back to the days of windows 3.11 without a mouse :-)
I was quite relieved when, after the furious smacking, the various "voice over turned off" was heard. In addition, I feel that this accident happened to me with something that I did not want anyone else to share. Some of the messages from a friend contain expressions that would make even a slobbery dog ashamed;-) and surfing at night in the husband's bed is a bit more disturbing:-)))
Voice control, it should already be and drop, at least some simple functions like a calculator and then so that it also calculates according to the voice, opening word, excel :)
