Not only the iPhone itself, but the entire Apple company has come a long way in the last ten years. However, what has not changed so far are the emotions associated with the launch of new products. Emotion. A word that is considered one of the most important for the current business model. Evoking an emotion that gets people talking about the product. Positively, negatively, but talking is essential. What mobile phones regarding, since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007, Apple has been labeled a trendsetter. And also the "first mover" label when it comes to getting rid of outdated technologies.

Although he was not the first to come up with a touch screen, nor was he the first to show that the multimedia center could be hidden in a small trouser pocket. But it was just the first iPhone, which started the race to achieve the ideal phone. Within a few years, cell phone trends have changed beyond recognition. From the then - according to Steve Jobs - giant 3,5 inch display, the screens have grown to a gigantic five and a half, and even more inches. Mobile processors have become comparable in performance to laptops and have become the standard even for mid-range phones. All this within a few years. But is Apple still the manufacturer it was thought to be ten years ago? Is he still an innovator?

Touch screen without a stylus, bluetooth technology that cannot be connected to other phones of other brands, the ability to unlock the phone using a fingerprint, getting rid of the 3,5 millimeter jack connector and much more. Apple started it all. Of course, much of what was mentioned would come over time, and it would not be the Californian giant behind this progress, but any other brand.

But let's remember when Apple dealt with the competition and followed it? Was it at the introduction of curved displays from Samsung, or the introduction of super slow-motion video in Sony phones? The answer is no. The same answer is also given when we mention 3D Touch, i.e. a technology that perceives the degree of pressure on the display and can work with it. Although in 2016 Apple was not the first to adapt this technology to its device (in the autumn of 2015, the Chinese brand ZTE introduced it on its Axon mini model), globally Apple is considered the pioneer of this technology in mobile devices, precisely because he was able to implement it usefully.

The opposite is the case with the iPhone X, following a screen shape that was considered "unfinished" by many critics. They especially didn't like the cut-out in which facial recognition and scanning technologies are built-in. Whether customers liked this Apple innovation or not, it created such emotions that competing brands also decided to follow this shape. In addition to dozens of larger or smaller Chinese manufacturers whose portfolios are based on copying Apple's design, Asus, for example, also decided to take this step with its new flagship Zenfone 5 presented at MWC 2018.

But will the mobile world follow Apple even in trends that are not yet "in"? A good example is the removal of the 3,5 mm jack connector, which evokes emotions even now. When presenting the iPhone 7 in 2016, Apple emphasized that they must have had a lot of courage for this decision, which cannot be doubted. After all, what other manufacturer would reach into such an important thing, about which there was no controversy about its removal until then? The fact remains that if any other competitor had made this move earlier, it would have taken a hit in sales. Apple, on the other hand, shows every year with these steps that although the world is not sleeping, it is still number one in setting trends and the direction where mobile phones will move next year. For many, only giant steps, but still...

Many of the current trends, which are taken for granted, were not the first to be introduced by Apple and gradually worked towards them - water resistance, wireless charging, but also the trend of maximum display size for the size of the phone's body. However, you can bet with an almost 100% chance of winning that if Apple presents the smallest detail, it will be the number one player in the next decade of its activity in the mobile sector in specifying what is essential for mobile phones. Although we ourselves may be against it.
