The most discussed problem in iOS 6 is clearly maps, but iPad users have another problem with the arrival of the new operating system – the missing YouTube application. Fortunately, a good alternative to the original applications is the Jasmine client, which is available for free.

Google though after removal "Apple" YouTube apps from iOS stated your own client, but the first version only works on iPhones, and iPad users are out of luck.

Fortunately, other developers reacted quickly to the whole situation, and so we can view YouTube videos on the iPad comfortably using the Jasmine application. It is also universal and works on the iPhone, so anyone who doesn't like the Google version can try an alternative.

Jasmine has a nice interface that uses individual sliding and overlapping panels. The first panel has only two buttons - a gear wheel for setting and a second button for easy brightness control. At the bottom there is also a button to upgrade to the PRO version, which we will get to later.

In Jasmine, you can log in to your YouTube account in the classic way, after which the application will load all your recently played videos, saved playlists and subscribed channels for you to view. The selected offer always pops up in a new panel when you get to the list of videos themselves. The swipe gesture works with them, i.e. just swipe from left to right and a quick menu will appear to add the video to favorites, share it (mail, message, Twitter, Facebook, copy link) or add it to a playlist. Every video has all the important information such as a description or comments and again three buttons, which are also offered by the already mentioned quick menu.

Background playback is a very important feature of Jasmine. Even if you close the application, the video can continue to play, which is especially useful when listening to music. This is a significant advantage of Jasmine compared to the official client, which cannot do something similar.

In the settings, we can also choose the brightness intensity and turn on the night mode, which is also possible by double-clicking on the upper part of the main panel. The size of the text, marking of already viewed videos and also the function of individual buttons can be selected. During playback, it is possible to set the video quality or leave it to be selected automatically.

Finally, the great news is that the Jasmine app for YouTube is completely free. This automatically creates a rather interesting competitor for the official client. However, if you would like to contribute to the development of Jasmine, developer Jason Morrissey allows the purchase of a PRO version that adds the option of parental locks. Through the PRO version, Morrissey also invites users to contribute, because thanks to the funds obtained, he will be able to continue development without being forced to add advertising to the application. She is not at all in Jasmine at the moment.
