One sets trends, but the other tries to bring an innovative approach to mobile phones. Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, put away his Nothing Phone (1) for a while and used the most wanted phone today.

It's not for nothing that they say know your enemy. Rest assured that you'll find Samsungs in Apple's designer sections just as you'll find iPhones at Samsung's. Coughing up what the competition is doing is not smart in any way. Nothing officially introduced its first mobile phone in July this year, shortly before the iPhone 14 came out. Immediately after the launch of the phone, it was, of course, compared to iPhones.

It is a very different phone, but the design language of body proportions cannot be denied here. Even Carl Pei cautiously acknowledges this in the published video, although he only does so with regard to the volume buttons. At the same time, this statement is contradicted by the back of the phone, which in the case of Nothing provides a very effective and to some extent original Glyph light interface.

Nevertheless, Pei also talked about Dynamic Island. According to him, it is a rather clever design solution to the technical limitation in the form of a front camera and its sensors, but at the same time, according to him, the function that revolves around this element is exaggerated. It only took him a week to make this discovery, we figured it out only after a month. Even though the "variable island" is effective, its use and practicality still lags a lot.

Nothing Phone (1) is the best in its price category

Pei paid the iPhone a tribute in the field of photography when he simply said that the iPhone 14 Pro is truly one of the best camera phones on the market. But he added in one breath that the Nothing Phone (1) is again one of the best in its price range. It should be mentioned that you can get it here for less than 13 CZK, which is actually a full 20 less than the iPhone 14 Pro costs here.

Just as the Nothing Phone (1) is being compared to the iPhone, the company itself is being compared to Apple. Then, when we look at the flood of Chinese Android phone manufacturers, Nothing is different and tries to follow a different path. In addition, the company was founded in London, wherever the CEO is from (Carl Pei is a Swedish entrepreneur of Chinese origin and co-founded the One Plus brand). Speaking openly about your competition, while not directly criticizing it, is a relatively nice move. Can you imagine if Tim Cook were to use Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra, and what would he say about it? Or better yet, how would he like the Galaxy Z Fold4 and its folding mechanism?
