We are only a few days away from the release of new versions of apple operating systems. Apple should release iOS and iPadOS 16.3, macOS 13.2 Ventura and watchOS 9.3 early next week, which will bring some interesting news and fixes for known bugs. The Cupertino giant released the final developer beta versions this Wednesday. Only one thing follows from this – the official release is literally around the corner. You can find out exactly when we will wait in the article attached below. Let's therefore take a brief look at the news that will soon arrive in our Apple devices.

iPadOS 16.3

The iPadOS 16.3 operating system will receive the same innovations as iOS 16.3. We can therefore look forward to the biggest security improvements to iCloud in recent years. Apple will extend so-called end-to-end encryption to all items that are backed up to the Apple cloud service. These news saw their launch already at the end of 2022, but so far they were only available in Apple's homeland, the United States of America.

In addition, we will see support for physical security keys, which can be used as additional protection for your Apple ID. Apple's notes also show the arrival of new Unity wallpapers, support for the new HomePod (2nd generation) and fixes for some errors (for example, in Freeform, with non-functional wallpaper in always-on mode, etc.). The aforementioned support for the new HomePod is also related to another gadget related to the Apple HomeKit smart home. The new operating systems, led by HomePodOS 16.3, unlock sensors for measuring temperature and air humidity. These are specifically found in HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini (2020). The measurement data can then be used in the Household application to create automations.

Main news in iPadOS 16.3:

  • Support for security keys
  • Support for HomePod (2nd generation)
  • Possibility of using sensors to measure temperature and air humidity in the native Home application
  • Bug fixes in Freeform, locked screen, always-on, Siri, etc
  • New Unity wallpapers celebrating black history month
  • Advanced data protection on iCloud

macOS 13.2 Adventure

Apple computers will also receive practically the same news. So macOS 13.2 Ventura will get support for physical security keys to support the security of your Apple ID. This way, the verification can be done through special hardware, rather than having to bother copying the code. Overall, this should increase the level of security. We'll stay with that for a while. As we mentioned above, Apple has now bet on one of the biggest security improvements in recent years and is bringing end-to-end encryption for all items on iCloud, which also applies to the macOS operating system.

We can also look forward to some bug fixes and support for HomePod (2nd generation). Therefore, the Home application for macOS will also become available with new options resulting from the deployment of the HomePodOS 16.3 system, which will make it possible to monitor the temperature and humidity of the air via the HomePod mini and HomePod (2nd generation), or set various automations within the smart home according to them.

Main news in macOS 13.2 Ventura:

  • Support for security keys
  • Support for HomePod (2nd generation)
  • Fixed bugs associated with Freeform and VoiceOver
  • Possibility of using sensors to measure temperature and air humidity in the native Home application
  • Advanced data protection on iCloud

Watch 9.3

Finally, we must not forget about watchOS 9.3. Although not as much information is available about it as, for example, about iOS/iPadOS 16.3 or macOS 13.2 Ventura, we still roughly know what news it will bring. In the case of this system, Apple should mainly focus on fixing some errors and overall optimization. In addition, this system will also receive the security extension of iCloud, which has been mentioned several times.

Operating systems: iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS 13 Ventura

Advanced data protection on iCloud

In conclusion, we must not forget to mention one extremely important fact. As we mentioned above, the new operating systems will bring with them the so-called extended data protection on iCloud. Right now, this gadget is spreading all over the world, so every apple grower will be able to use it. But it has a rather important condition. In order for your protection to work, you need to have all Apple devices updated to the latest OS versions. So if you own an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, for example, you'll need to update all three devices. If you update only on your phone, you simply won't use the extended data protection. You can find a detailed description of this news in the article attached below.
