iOS 7 and OS X 10.9 Mavericks came with a useful auto-update feature that many users have been clamoring for. Thanks to them, they don't have to worry about manually downloading apps, the system takes care of everything for them, and they always have the latest versions of their app without having to open the App Store or Mac App Store.
On the other hand, not every update succeeds, it is not an exception when, due to an error in it, the application starts to crash right after launch or an important function stops working. This recently happened to Facebook, for example. If you catch in time that the update is bad, you will avoid waiting several weeks for repairs of serious errors. Therefore, it is better for some to turn off automatic updates, even if you lose an otherwise useful function. Here's how to do it:
iOS 7
- Open the system Settings and select iTunes and the App Store.
- Scroll down and turn off updates in the section Automatic downloads.
- Now, as before, you will need to download updates manually in the App Store.
OS X 10.9
- Open it System Preferences from the main bar (apple icon) and select from the menu App Store.
- Compared to iOS, there are more options here, for example, you can have updates automatically downloaded, but install them manually from the Mac App Store. Likewise, you can turn off/on the automatic installation of system applications or turn off the automatic search for applications completely.
- Uncheck the box to turn off automatic update installations Install application updates.
- Now it will be possible to perform updates only manually from the Mac App Store, as was the case with earlier versions of the system.
Hello, I would like to ask, can I somehow turn off the update (notification) of ios 7.0.3? I have ios 7.0.2 and I don't want to switch, but unfortunately the available notification lights up next to the settings icon. It can probably be solved through JB, but I don't want to do that.
It doesn't work, and you wouldn't do JB anyway, because JB doesn't exist on iOS7.
Hello, Apple users, I want to ask if there is a possibility to change the first part of the automatic answer when calling. In iOS 6 it started "I can't talk to you now..." in iOS 7 it's "I can't talk now..." which I don't think is appropriate in relation to the client, impolite. Thanks for the tips
I'm glad for this function, I felt stupid to scold my friends and relatives....
It looks like only the second part of the answer can be changed. I also thought the original version was better...
For me, after updating the system to mavericks, the synchronization with IOS via wifi stopped working. it just says that it is looking for a computer with itunes, but itunes does not see the ios device. :(
I'm really not surprised that some individuals are called iOvce. There could be an article on how to log in to the iPad. After all, advertising is advertising.
Linuxari resi how to program a script,
Windovsari enjoys how to program applications,
Apple iron lovers have fun how to turn off updates.
Do you really think that when someone wants to turn off updates, they can't find it in the most intuitive OS in the world? I just don't see why anyone would do that.
I like apple, but too much of everything :)
Imagine a large group of users not even knowing that any automatic updates exist.
Hello, I have a problem. My sister needs to update iOS on her iPad (she probably has an older version and I couldn't find which one), but she doesn't have the Software Update item in the menu under Settings > General. Even in the automatic update settings, only Music and Applications do not have this item. Can anyone advise me? Thank you.
