The current situation is certainly not easy for anyone. Parents whose children have to stay at home due to the current government order certainly don't have it easy either. You must participate in the teaching of your children, together with the teachers, who will surely send you assignments and learning materials electronically. There are also a number of websites and various apps that can help you and your child with their studies. A great gesture was also made by some Czech publishing houses, which exceptionally released selected materials. In today's article, we bring you a list of the best resources for teaching elementary school students.

Websites in Czech

Kindergarten6

A very simple but useful website offers a number of graphic resources in individual folders for teaching children of all ages. Here you will find materials that relate to the vast majority of subjects currently taught in elementary schools. Don't be put off by the seemingly amateurish design of the site, its content is really very rich and not only parents will find it useful, but teachers will certainly find it useful too. On the website you will find both teaching materials and materials for subsequent verification of acquired knowledge, you can also download various presentations here.

You can view the skolicka6 website here.

Online exercises

The online exercise website is one of my personal favorites. Here you will find online exercises in mathematics and Czech for first and second grade elementary school students. The website is very clearly organized - first you click on the subject, then you can browse individual topics and start the exercises. The website also works for unregistered visitors, registered users can complete various tasks and participate in competitions.

Website Online exercises can be viewed here.

Math.in

The website Matika.in serves primarily elementary school students who learn mathematics with the help of the Hejné method. The pages are aimed directly at pupils, so they are designed in a fun and playful way with elements of competition. You can also print out the individual tasks for your children, and for parents who (like me) fumble with the Hejné method from time to time, the website offers its own section with explanations ("Task rules" section). The website also offers children opportunities to create their own tasks.

You can view the Matika.in website here.

The makers of Matika.in also run these useful tutorial sites:

Math.game

The website Matematika.hrou is used to practice knowledge of mathematics for pupils of the first to seventh grades of primary school. On the website, you will find material clearly sorted according to topics and years, students can check and practice their knowledge here, either in the form of classic examples, or in a fun way with the help of playing pexes.

Application

Various applications designed for iPhone or iPad can also be used to refresh home teaching. We've featured some of them in our series on apps for parents.

Mathematician

The Matemág application is a great example of the "school through play" method. It introduces math to your child in a fun and adventurous way and in the form of a game. The children are guided through the game by a virtual wizard named Matemág, who playfully demonstrates individual principles. Along with how children solve individual puzzles and rebuses, they learn the necessary material.

Parts of speech and their determination

The Word types and their determination application offers interactive and effective practice of word types. The application works by always generating a sentence for the user, and the user drags virtual cards with the names of parts of speech over individual words in the sentence. The application was created in cooperation with the Department of Czech Language and Literature of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Palacký University in Olomouc, and the creators are constantly improving it and adding new sentences. Applications also come from the workshop of the creators of this application Enumerated words, Practice spelling or maybe Nouns.

Playful multiplication table

As the name suggests, this application offers children teaching and practicing the multiplication table in a playful and original way. The guide for small users will be the devil Kvítko, who has prepared magic cards for children - these will help them learn a new material. The application does not lack interesting stories or lots of examples to count.

Spelling game

The Pravopis hrou application offers the possibility of practicing Czech spelling in a fun way with competitive elements. It offers the possibility of practicing all the listed words, writing small and capital letters or perhaps writing i/y within the agreement of the predicate with the subject. During the game, users gradually work their way through levels of increasing difficulty.

Publisher's offers

A number of publishing houses and other organizations have started to offer study and teaching materials for free in response to the current situation on social networks. The new school offers everyone who textbook-online register as students, the possibility of free download of teaching materials in electronic form. On SCIO website parents will find free practice tests, fun and educational experiments, and other activities on the website Institute of Geophysics. Experiments can also be found at Institute of Experimental Botany. An interesting article (not only) for teachers regarding distance learning published by the Parents Welcome website.
