Christmas is a holiday of peace and tranquility. They are about meeting loved ones, whether in person or virtually. Of course, the mobile phone is primarily used for the latter. However, it is not advisable to have it in your hand all the time, not even for health reasons. At the same time, limiting its use is very simple, and trying to put the iPhone away over the Christmas period can become a useful habit.

Of course, we're not saying you should throw your phone in the corner and ignore everyone and everything, or put it straight into airplane mode. Using a smartphone over Christmas also has its advantages. You can not only communicate with it, but you can check the TV program in it, but also look for recipes on the Christmas board, time the ringing of the bell calling to the tree, or it can play carols. And of course, it is the ideal tool to capture memories. However, what is too much is sometimes simply too much.

Screen time

The first step in your detox might just be trying to reach for your phone as little as possible. You will then find out relatively easily how it will work out for you. This is because the iPhone can inform you about its use, when it can send you reports every week, whether your use has decreased or, on the contrary, increased. The function is called Screen time, and you can find it in Settings.

Quiet time

Possibility Quiet time, which is right in Screen Time, will provide you with blocking apps and notifications from them during those times when you simply want to take a break from your device. In this option, you can choose Every day, or you can customize the individual days on which you want to have quiet time activated. In this case, you can click on each day of the week and define exactly the period of time in which you do not want to be "bothered".

Application Limits

You can set limits for apps not only for the ones you've selected, but also for individual categories, depending on how they're ranked in the App Store. In one step, you can limit all applications from the Entertainment category, or vice versa, even websites. All you have to do is select it Application Limits choose Add Limit. You can then select the chosen category with the check mark on the left to narrow down all the titles in that category. But if you want to select only certain ones, click on the category. Subsequently, you will see a list of installed applications in the given category.

Communication restrictions

It's probably not exactly what is required at Christmas, but this is also a way to limit the use of mobile devices. If you want, you can block phone calls, FaceTime, and Messages with certain contacts on iCloud. It is possible to do so permanently, but perhaps just as well only for a certain period of time. You will always be in communication with the contact, but only at the given time. You activate iCloud contacts in Settings -> Your name -> iCloud, where you turn on the option Contact. However, you can also limit the communication itself by switching to the mode Do not disturb.
