If you've been following events in the technology world lately, you certainly didn't miss a case at the beginning of the year that had to do with Facebook, that is, with the chat application WhatsApp. Specifically, the terms were to change and Facebook was to gain access to additional user data from the WhatsApp application. Because of this, millions of users stopped using WhatsApp and often switched to competitors, where, unfortunately, the situation is not necessarily much better. If the new terms of use of WhatsApp did not surprise you and you continue to use this application, then you might be interested in how you can install and use it on macOS. Let's see how to do it together.

How to use WhatsApp on Mac

You can only have WhatsApp installed on one device at a time. If you install and activate on a second or any other device, you will automatically be logged out on the original one. Fortunately, WhatsApp has come up with an option to use the app on Mac without logging out. So proceed as follows:

  • At the outset, it must be noted that to use WhatsApp on Mac, you must already have it installed and activated on your smartphone.
  • If you meet the above condition, then on your Mac, move to this WhatsApp official site.
  • Once you've done that, tap the green button on the right Download for Mac OS X.
  • A dialog box will now appear in which enable download and wait for the download to complete.
  • After downloading, you need to double-click the specific file they launched.
  • This will open a new window in which move WhatsApp to the Applications folder.
  • Once copied, move to the folder Application a Start WhatsApp.
  • After launching, the application window in which it is located will be displayed QR code and activation procedure.
  • Now grab yours mobile phone, on which you have WhatsApp installed, and run him.
  • After starting, click on the tab in the bottom menu Settings.
  • On the next screen that appears, click at the top WhatsApp Web/PC.
  • Once you have clicked the box, click the button Connect to the device.
  • Then it starts camera, which you point at the QR code displayed on your Mac.
  • Immediately after that, the application on the Mac WhatsApp will start and you can start using it.

Note that WhatsApp on Mac cannot run completely standalone as mentioned above. For now, it is not possible for you to be connected to the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices. In a way, it can be said that WhatsApp on Mac downloads data from your iPhone and is thus only a kind of "middle man". In order for all messages to be synchronized, it is necessary that both your Mac and iPhone are connected to the Internet, either via Wi-Fi or via mobile data. If you check the device's Internet access, it will not be possible to send and receive messages via Mac. If you don't want to install any application, you can also connect to the WhatsApp web interface.
