The new look of the system resembles iPadOS – it is therefore much more modern. But the design is certainly not all that has changed. In particular, there have also been changes to the top bar, which now also houses the control center, then you can tap on the time to display the redesigned notification center. Among other things, the option for automatic hiding of the top bar was added. In this article, we'll take a look at how to set up the auto-hide top bar and how to edit its content.

How to hide and customize the top bar on Mac

If you want to set automatic hiding of the top bar on your Mac or MacBook, which is especially useful if it disturbs you while you are working, or if you want to maximize the desktop, then this is nothing complicated. Just proceed as follows:

  • First, you need to tap on in the upper left corner icon .
  • Once you do so, select an option from the menu System Preferences…
  • Now a new window will open, find and click on the section Dock and menu bar.
  • Here, then make sure that you are in the tab on the left menu Dock and menu bar.
  • Finally, at the bottom of the window is enough tick function Automatically hide and show the menu bar.

The above procedure will therefore ensure that the top bar on your Mac will automatically hide when you do not need it. In fact, the top bar will start to behave like the Dock at the bottom of the screen, that is, if you have it set to auto-hide. The top bar will therefore remain hidden until you move the cursor upwards. Apart from auto-hiding, you can also adjust what will be in the top bar. In this case, go to again System Preferences -> Dock and Menu Bar, where you can view the individual tabs in the left menu. In the category Control panel you set what is in the control panel, v Other modules you can then have battery percentages or access shortcuts displayed in the top bar. IN Just a menu bar then you set the display of icons that are displayed only in the top bar. If you want individual icons in the top bar to move, that's enough hold Command, then grab them with the cursor and move them where you need them.
