How to lock photos on the iPhone is a procedure that most of you have probably searched for at least once. And it's no wonder, since most of us have photos, pictures or videos stored on our Apple phone, which we don't want to risk that someone could see them. Until now, in iOS, it was only possible to hide content in the Photos app, and that in a special album called Hidden. However, this album remained visible and, above all, accessible without restrictions in Photos - all you had to do was scroll down and click on it. Apple users often used third-party applications to lock photos or videos, which may not be ideal from the point of view of security and privacy protection.

How to lock photos on iPhone

But the good news is that in the new iOS 16 update, it is now possible not only to hide photos and videos, but also to lock them under Touch ID or Face ID. In order to be able to use this function, it is necessary that you activate the locking of the mentioned Hidden album, where this content is stored. It's not complicated, just follow the steps below:

  • First, go to the native app on your iPhone Settings.
  • Once you do, get off below and click the section Photos.
  • Here, then go down a bit again below, and that to the category named Sunrise.
  • Finally, just activate here Use Touch ID or Use Face ID.

It is therefore possible to lock the Hidden album in the Photos application on the iPhone in the above-mentioned way. The Recently Deleted album will also be locked together with this album. If you want to move to these albums, you will have to authorize yourself using Touch ID or Face ID, so you are sure that no one will get into them even if you leave your iPhone unlocked somewhere. Photos, pictures and videos then you can easily add to the Hidden album so that you are click or mark then tap on three dots icon and select an option from the menu Hide.
