A few days ago, we finally got to see the release of the first public versions of the new operating systems. In particular, Apple released iOS and iPadOS 15, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15. These mentioned systems, together with macOS 12 Monterey, were introduced a few months ago, at the WWDC21 developer conference. Until the release of the public versions, all testers and developers could download the beta versions of the mentioned systems and thus get early access to them. At our magazine, we're constantly looking at all the news and improvements that Apple has come up with - and this article will be no exception. Let's take a look at another option from iOS 15.

How to show in Messages on iPhone that you are in Focus mode

Surely most of you know that a part of practically all new operating systems is the Focus mode. In a way, Focus can be defined as the original Do Not Disturb mode on steroids. You can now create several different modes in Focus, which you can then adjust according to your taste. You choose who calls you, which application will be able to send you a notification, automatic activation of the mode or perhaps modification of the desktop and lock screen. Another great feature of Focus is that you can let other users know that you're in Focus mode as part of a conversation in the Messages app, so your notifications are muted and you won't see them. The procedure to activate this feature is as follows:

  • First, on an iPhone with iOS 15, move to the native app Settings.
  • Once you've done that, go down a notch below, where locate and click Concentration.
  • On the next screen you then select that Focus mode, with whom you want to work.
  • Next, in customize mode, tap below in the category Elections to the column A state of concentration.
  • Here you just need to use the switch at the top activated Share a state of concentration.

Therefore, if you activate the above function, other contacts in Messages will see information in the conversation with you that you have disabled notifications. Thanks to this, the other party can count on the fact that you will reply to the message only after some time. But it should be mentioned that if you absolutely need the other party to read the message, you can send it and then tap the Notify Anyway option. The message will thus be sent with a special effect that can override the active Focus mode. On the other hand, some users can abuse this, so it would be nice to be able to choose whether to enable the option to overcharge Focus - hopefully we'll see this option sometime later.
