With the arrival of newer iPhones and the iOS operating system, we saw a completely redesigned Camera application. But the truth is that this redesigned app with more features is only available on iPhone XS and later. So if you have an older Apple phone, you won't be able to enjoy the new options. One of these functions, which you can only find in the redesigned version of the Camera, includes the option to simply change the resolution and FPS of the recorded video - just tap in the upper right corner. However, the good news is that Apple has finally added this feature to older devices as well. But it is disabled by default.

How to activate the option to set the video format in the Camera on the iPhone

If you would like to activate a function within iOS, with which you can easily switch the resolution and FPS directly in the Camera, even on older devices, then this is nothing complicated. Just follow the steps below:

  • First, you need to move to native within iOS Settings app.
  • Once you've done that, scroll down and click the Camera tab.
  • On the next screen that appears, now tap on at the top Video recording.
  • Here you just need to use the switch below activated possibility Video format settings.

The above-mentioned procedure can be used to activate the function for setting the video format and FPS directly within the Camera. In order to make the change, you just need to log in Camera moved to section video, and then in the upper right corner they tapped on format or FPS, making the change. You don't have to go to Settings unnecessarily, which can be very tedious. Not in all cases is it advisable to shoot at the highest (or, conversely, the lowest) resolution. The function can be activated even on very old iPhones - we tested it on the 1st generation iPhone SE in the editorial office.
