In recent years, Apple has been trying to strengthen the privacy of its users as much as possible, in all kinds of ways. For example, in the latest version of Safari, both on iPhone and Mac, there is a new Privacy Report that informs you whether a site has contacted any trackers and, if so, how many of them have already been blocked. Various websites and applications can collect all kinds of data about you, including your location. Of course, some applications need your location for their functionality, such as navigation, but other applications do not need it at all, or may not know the exact address of your location (such as Weather). For such Weather, it is sufficient to know, for example, only the city in which you are located. Let's take a look together at how you can disable apps from accessing your exact location and allow them to display only the approximate location.

How to set access to only approximate location on iPhone applications

If you want to check which applications have access to the exact location and, if necessary, set them to access only the approximate location, then it is not difficult. Just proceed as follows:

  • First, it is necessary that within iOS (or iPadOS) you move to Settings.
  • Once you've done that, go down here a bit until you come to a column Privacy, which you click.
  • On the next screen, then tap on the option at the top Location services.
  • Then move here again below, where is list of all applications, which use the location.
  • The app you want to set access to approximate location only, locate and click.
  • Finally, all you have to do is use the switch deactivated possibility Exact location.

So, in the above way, you can block various apps from accessing your exact location. Let's face it, most applications don't need to know the exact location at all. Most apps only track your location to collect various user data, which they then deal with in different (and often messy) ways. It can be said that practically only navigation and a few other applications need to know the exact location, while other applications need an approximate location, or they don't need it at all. Therefore, definitely check the access of applications to your location in this section of the settings and, if necessary, deactivate it.
