If you own an Apple Watch Series 5 (and later), you certainly know that you can use the so-called Always-On display. As the name suggests, this display can be turned on all the time, but without drastically draining the battery. Apple has come up with a new technology for this watch, thanks to which it can refresh the display with a refresh rate of 1 Hz (i.e. 1x per second), which is the main reason for the low battery consumption. In addition to the clock, you can display various complications on the "off" display that inform you of various information. But the truth is that these complications can often display sensitive data and information that you don't want to share with those around you - for example, your heartbeat, calendar events, emails and more. However, Apple took this into account and came up with a function that you can use to hide these sensitive complications.

How to hide sensitive complications on Apple Watch

If you want to hide the display of sensitive notifications on your Apple Watch Series 5 (and later), you can do so both directly on the Apple Watch and in the Watch app on the iPhone. Below you will find both procedures attached.

Apple Watch

  • First it is necessary that your apple watch they lit up a unlocked.
  • Once you've done that, press digital crown, which will bring you to the applications menu.
  • In the application menu, then find and tap the native application Settings.
  • Here then it is necessary for you to move to the section Display and brightness.
  • In this section, click on the box with the name Always on.
  • Finally, all you have to do is use the switch activated function Hide sensitive data complications.

Watch on iPhone

  • First it is necessary that you on your iPhone, which you have paired with the watch, moved to the application Watch.
  • Once you've done so, make sure you're in the section below My watch.
  • Then go down a bit here below and locate the box Display and brightness, which you tap.
  • After that, you need to move to the section Always on.
  • Here, you only need to use the switch activated function Hide sensitive data complications.

In conclusion, I state once again that this function is only available on the Apple Watch, which has a display with Always-On technology - currently only the Series 5. However, in a few days Apple should introduce the seventh generation of its watch, called the Series 6 , which will most likely bring the Always-On display as well. The presentation of the Apple Watch Series 6 should take place at this year's September conference.
